Irish ULCC Ryanair plans to cut its German flight offering by an additional 12%, which equals 1.8 million seats and 22 canceled routes, for summer 2025. Ryanair will close its bases in Dortmund, Dresden and Leipzig. The airline will reduce Hamburg services by 60%, Berlin services by 20%, and will reduce services by 10% on other routes. In a February interview with Aviation Week, Ryanair Group CEO Michael O’Leary told me, “We are very content to see German traffic fall. We would like to see German traffic fall for another year or two, [and] air fares rise dramatically for a year or two. And that [after two years], we think the German regional airports will come to us and say, ‘please Ryanair fly in here. Airports like Stuttgart, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Bremen, Nurnberg.’” My story now at the Aviation Week Network #hofmannaviation #luftfahrtexperte Ryanair - Europe's Favourite Airline Boeing ACI EUROPE Ralph Beisel Julian Jäger Airlines for Europe (A4E) #Ryanair Andreas Gruber #Boeing

Anyone still needing proof of the importance and significance of the Middle East's aviation industry, the potential of its economic strength and the lure of opportunity need only look at OAG's ranking of 2024's busiest international and domestic routes. Dubai-Riyadh was the 6th busiest international route in 2024 and 2023. In 2019, it didn't even rank in the top 20. SAUDI AIRLINES is also the "best-performing “Big” carrier with an OTP of 90.2% just behind Oman Air with 95.5% and no cancellations." #travel #middleast #saudiarabia #rankings
