PanMediso Spotlight｜Another MNC Joins the Radiopharmaceutical Race with a €320 Million Deal On September 12, 2024, Sanofi reached an exclusive licensing agreement valued at approximately €320 million with RadioMedix and Orano Med to co-develop radioligand therapy (RLT) based on the radioactive isotope 212Pb for cancer treatment. The core of the collaboration is the AlphaMedix project, an alpha particle-targeted therapy (TAT) designed to treat patients with neuroendocrine tumors (NET) expressing somatostatin receptors. More radiopharmaceutical action as AstraZeneca snaps up its partner Fusion Pharmaceuticals for a cool $2 billion up-front. These targeted, radiation-carrying warheads are, we hear, the new frontier in cancer care: they do for external beam radiation therapy what precision medicine has done for chemotherapy, that other treatment mainstay. As with antibody-drug-conjugates, there's lots to play with: isotopes, ligand type, target, chelator chemistry...and the "art" of bringing all these together to form something stable that won't degenerate before it reaches its target (experts tell me this part is, for now, 'more art than science'). Alpha-emitting actinium-225 looks the coolest isotope right now, but shorter-lived lead-212 is among those snapping at its heels.... Tis the Season of Sharing! I’m quite passionate about bringing radiopharmaceutical therapy into the community setting since up to 80% of oncology patients in the US receive some of their care in the community. Radiopharmaceutical therapy (RPT), commonly referred to as "theranostics," is quickly emerging as an important and exciting treatment option for some patients. However, for patients to access theranostics, it must be available close to their homes in the community. Occasionally, I’ve posted articles on LinkedIn that could be valuable resources for those looking to launch or develop their RPT service line. With the “Season of Sharing” upon us, I’m excited to share these articles and several others I haven’t previously shared in the PDF attached to this message. This list features high-level recommendations from professional organizations and practical insights from various community-based centers. Additionally, the PDF includes links to five articles published by Aunt Minnie earlier this year. This time in #JACS, we are discussing about enhancing sustainability in radiopharmaceutical research. Radiopharmaceuticals are currently of high interest in cancer theranostics and nuclear medicine and thus many researchers are actively working on this topic. However, radioactive experiments necessary for such research, are very expensive, require special facilities, and face certain restrictions. On the other hand, many research results in this area may not be translated into real-world and clinical applications. Hence, a crucial question is whether it is always efficient and meaningful to use significant resources to conduct radioactive experiments when non-radioactive techniques can yield comparable results? Here we describe an alternative pathway to enhance sustainability in fundamental radiopharmaceutical research. It was a pleasure for me to coordinate and lead this work. Our work using CETSA proteomics to decipher apoptosis mechanisms of cancer drugs is out! A big thank you to everyone involved!! I believe the paper shows the strength of our CETSA method and also introduces some novel CETSA features. The result is a detailed picture of the early apoptosis stages with drug-specific and common mechanisms revealed.

These compounds help in visualising the function and structure of organs or tissues aiding in diagnosis of diseases like cancer, heart conditions and neurological disorders. Radio pharmaceuticals plays an important role in modern medicine by providing valuable information for diagnosis and offering targetted treatments for various medical conditions.
