Navigating healthcare without Clinical Quality Language (CQL) is like driving cross-country without a GPS. Frustrating, inconsistent, and full of wrong turns. CQL is the guide that keeps healthcare providers and systems on the same road, ensuring patients get the right care, at the right time, every time. The great addition that the CQL NCQA has developed also integrates the FHIR resourceType ‘Claim’ and/or ‘ExplanationOfBenefit’ in addition to supplemental clinical data from the EHR, the challenges ahead will be maintaining referential integrity across exchanged claim/clinical data for generating a ‘Bundle’ resource with all the relevant data for a single patient. I’d love to see case studies on the efficiency of this method (CQL) as opposed to SQL on FHIR stored in a more efficient format.

Portable, computable, standardized guidance FTW!
