Edtech accessibility and inclusion are crucial as education rapidly evolves with new technologies and changing learner needs, yet many face barriers due to disabilities, socio-economic status, language, culture, or location, limiting their opportunities. These elements are essential for providing quality education that honors the diversity and dignity of all learners and for driving social justice and economic development by reducing inequalities and empowering marginalized groups. #Edtech #Accessibility #Inclusion #EducationForAll #SocialJustice #TechForGood #InclusiveLearning #Empowerment https://lnkd.in/gBDf7WUE

Is EdTech Promoting Inclusion for Conflict-Affected Children? 1. Access to Education in Disrupted Environments: -EdTech provides crucial educational access in areas where traditional schools have been damaged or are unsafe due to conflict. By offering mobile-based learning, students can continue their education from secure, alternative locations, eliminating the need for physical classrooms. This ensures that children in conflict zones have the opportunity to maintain their learning and progress, even when attending a traditional school is not possible. 2. Catering to Diverse Needs: -EdTech supports children with disabilities by offering features like text-to-speech, visual aids, and interactive exercises, making learning more accessible. It also provides personalized learning paths to help children who have fallen behind due to conflict, allowing them to catch up at their own pace. By creating a structured and engaging learning environment, EdTech fosters both academic growth and psychological well-being. 3. Overcoming Language Barriers: -It offers multilingual content to support children who have been displaced to regions with different languages. This flexibility allows them to continue their education in their native language or learn new languages necessary for integration into their new environment. By providing these options, EdTech ensures that language differences do not become an added barrier for displaced or refugee children, allowing them to access quality education without linguistic obstacles. 4. Fostering Connection and Community: - It also incorporates interactive features such as virtual classrooms and peer-to-peer learning to enhance the educational experience for conflict-affected children. These elements help create supportive online communities, reducing feelings of isolation and fostering a sense of connection among students. By enabling children to interact with and support each other, EdTech promotes social inclusion and emotional resilience, ensuring that students not only advance academically but also build strong, supportive relationships in their learning environment.

So I’ve been quietly working on an EdTech Startup for the last six months. And it’s LIT. First Gen Lit to be exact. Let me back up……… I met my co-founder for the first time at Arlan Hamilton All Access Pass L.A. event called “Write Your Headline” in 2023. There were only 20 of us in the room who took a chance and bet on ourselves flying out to LA. to learn from and spend time with a young living legend at an in-person mastermind. I knew after making that investment in myself, I would never be the same. Returning to Charlotte, Nicole Fenner and I started to meet at local coffee shops to have brainstorming and mastermind sessions trying to keep the momentum from the event. I’ve never created a business this fast nor have I ever agreed to partner with a complete stranger and get in bed with someone I barely knew in partnership to start something great. I’m still in shock, but God did! From the moment we decided to start First Gen Lit earlier this year it's been nothing but one confirmation after another that we were onto something incredible that truly has the potential to change our lives and the world. Introducing First Gen Lit, our innovative, education technology startup positioned to transform digital literacy in underserved and under-resourced communities through AI-driven digital platforms. Our primary focus is enhancing children's engagement with reading comprehension and writing. We aim to bridge the literacy and comprehension gap for children aged 5 to 13 by merging entertainment with education on our e-reading platform, ReadSMARTER. Our team, experts in education, technology, and child development, is uniquely equipped for this mission. Later this year we will be rolling out curriculum, programs, and resources for digital literacy in Adult education serving high seniors, recent college graduates, and young professionals. One of our upcoming initiatives, that’s very close to our hearts is our upcoming programming to revolutionize digital literacy and job readiness for formerly incarcerated, newly released populations. Stay tuned for more. We’ve got BIG things on the way. _______________________________________ In this very short amount of time (less than six months to be exact) we have pitched our business to …. ✅National Science Foundation Program SBIR and our pitch was accepted. ✅Semifinalist for 53 Ideas Business Pitch Competition ✅Semifinalist for Velocity Creative Accelerator 2024 ⏳Pending acceptance into Black Ambition Prize Competition 2024 I want to Thank God I want to thank Nicole I want to thank Arlan I want to thank Jeneba for making 2024 the year of rapid execution, expansion and supersized belief in self. Cheers to me! I’m still That Girl. (We all need this reminder!) To everyone out there who has been a victim of the recent layoffs, there is life after layoffs. This could be your rose in the concrete. You just have to see the seed before it blooms. Jeneba #layoff #founder #startup #edtech #firstgenlit

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 (𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴!) #𝗙𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗱𝘀 #𝗘𝗱𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵 #𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗼𝗳𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸 As a passionate EdTech company and a top voice in the industry, we see a crucial gap in today's education landscape: the lack of emphasis on foundational tech skills for children. Let's equip our children with the superpowers they need to thrive in the future. Here's why tech skills matter from a young age: Problem-solving Prowess: Tech tools cultivate a critical thinking mindset, encouraging children to break down problems, explore solutions, and experiment with different approaches. Collaboration Champions: Tech platforms provide the perfect space for collaborative learning. Children can work together, communicate effectively, and share ideas in a digital environment. Creativity Unleashed: From animation software to design tools, technology empowers children to express themselves creatively and explore the limitless possibilities of the digital world. Communication Confidence: Tech fosters digital literacy and communication skills. Children learn to navigate online platforms, communicate effectively through digital tools, and express themselves clearly in the digital age. But wait, there's more! Tech skills aren't just about fancy software. They develop critical life skills such as: Digital Citizenship: We empower children to become responsible digital citizens, teaching them about online safety, privacy, and responsible online behavior. Computational Thinking: This goes beyond coding! It's the ability to break down complex problems into manageable steps, a skill crucial for success in any field. Adaptability and Resilience: The tech world is constantly evolving. By learning tech skills, children develop the adaptability and resilience necessary to navigate a dynamic future. At Fliplearnkids, we're passionate about making tech skills accessible and engaging for children of all ages. We believe that by equipping them with these superpowers, we're not just preparing them for future careers, we're preparing them to be confident, adaptable, and lifelong learners. What are your thoughts on the importance of tech skills for children? Share your experiences in the comments below! 🌍 On Global Accessibility Awareness Day, we at Hoja AI affirm our position that accessibility in education is a priority. It’s an issue that hits close to home and profoundly influences our commitment to inclusivity. In traditional educational settings, the 'one-size-fits-all' approach often fails to meet the varied needs of individual learners, leaving many students struggling to keep up or stay engaged. Accessibility remains a crucial challenge, as those with different abilities require tailored resources and methods to truly benefit from learning opportunities. This gap highlights the urgent need for adaptable and inclusive educational technologies that can bridge these divides and ensure every student has the support they need to succeed. Today, as we strive to make every learning experience accessible, we celebrate the progress being made across the industry and acknowledge the journey ahead. 👏 We encourage you to share how you're making digital and educational spaces more inclusive and reach out if you want to work with us towards this goal. Together, we can drive change and ensure that no one is left behind in our digital world. #gaad #accessibility #diversity #inclusion #education

There’s a current trend that tells us the most important data we edtech builders need is evidence of efficacy. Right? In an article entitled ‘The Kids that Edtech Writes Off’ (link below), Dan Meyer points out that the ‘glowing efficacy studies from several edtech companies’ emanates from roughly 5% of the students in the studies. The companies excluded roughly 95% of students from their studies for not meeting arbitrary thresholds for usage.’ Of course, as the article explains, companies want to study the effect of usage rather than non-usage. And some want to focus their impact on the 5%. The problem though is non-usage. How do we meet the challenge of children who have ‘checked out’ when using an edtech product? Is it the edtech product’s responsibility to address? Or, as this article asks, is it the teacher, who ‘should function like a line worker, flipping widgets back onto their belt whenever the belt throws them off?’ The thing to remember is that, in our education systems, there is a group of children who are primed to succeed - the ones who have ‘checked in’ and who comply with the instructions they receive from adults, including when using technology. They understand, almost implicitly, what is required of them to achieve success as the route to a positive future opens up before them. In contrast, there are those for whom the system does not make sense. It can be a matter of ethnicity, culture, or what is broadly described as ‘social class’. Mostly, these students do not see any route to success and they experience school differently. One of the things I’ve recently learned about our edtech platform Little Bridge is that it has a positive impact with children, irrespective of background. A recent report commissioned by the British Council stated that as a result of a program we are part of in Uruguay (@ceibal_uy): ‘There is (also) evidence of a decreased gap between the most and the least socio-economically advantaged students, with the gap in learning outcomes also reduced over the years’. Addressing inequality is what has driven me, every day, since I left the classroom. I happen to believe that technology has a massive part to play, but as an ex-teacher, I know it’s only one bit of the picture. With @ceibaleningles (our partner in the project above), ‘mentors’ are engaged in each child’s education journey. As they describe themselves, this ‘Mentors unit is dedicated to monitoring the execution of the programme directly in the field with the educational communities.' They are thoughtful listeners, who feed mission critical information back to us, to keep us absolutely focused on the needs of learners. Surely it’s this powerful combination - human touch and tech - that will enable us to address the needs of the 95%, as well as the 5% ‘elite’ ? Recognising this also helps us to keep some perspective while we trumpet the advances AI is bringing. #edtech #equality #AI #human
