There will be three Side Events for Papua New Guinea at COP-16 in Cali. These three side events are extremely important with EUDR and other initiatives looming for conservation commodities. At the backdrop PNG is a country with 80% of its population sustaining their livelihood through sustainable agriculture and small holder farming. And some of these people are customary landholders who owned 97% of land as compared to the 3% state own. If you look through this lens, the three side events is an opportunity.
Papua New Guinea is set to host three side events at the EU Pavilion (Blue Zone) during the Sixteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 16) in Cali, Colombia. We would like to extend a warm invitation to all delegations, donors, the private sector, and investors to join us and learn about PNG's experiences and our ongoing initiatives. Topics cover: 1️⃣ Making nature’s value visible: Tuesday 22 October 2024, 08:30 am – 09:30 am 2️⃣ Conservation commodities: Thursday 24 October 2024, 11:45 am – 12:45 pm 3️⃣ National Forest Monitoring System: Saturday, 26 October 2024, 11:45 am – 12:45 pm #COP16Colombia #PeaceWithNature #EU #Biodiversity #TransformativeChange #TransformativeAction #ForNature #ForPeople European Union in Papua New Guinea European Union Expertise France Alaric Vandenberghe Mirzohaydar Isoev Sam Moko Doe Kwarara Heang THY (Kim) Karina Watkins

🌍 Current State of the #VerifiedCarbonMarket 🌍 🌿 Despite the impasse in international #carboncredit negotiations under #Article6 of the #parisagreement , the Verified Carbon Market in Africa is witnessing notable activity and interest. African countries, as well as companies operating within them, are actively engaging in cross-border cooperation and knowledge exchange, with a particular focus on Article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement. This proactive stance is evident in both domestic frameworks and international engagements, as highlighted by the presence of government pavilions at #COP28 . 🌿 👉 John Ryan Ochieng DK Balian ClimeTrek Ltd #climatelegislation #climatechange #carbonmarkets #africa #renewableenergy #climatefinance #sustainability #climategoals
