ICCA Consortium’s Post

Like many communities worldwide, the #Massaha community in northeast #Gabon has nurtured and sustained its customary lands and sacred forests through cultural practices for generations.

#WATCH: A powerful new documentary highlights RRI’s project in Gabon, supported by its CLARIFI funding mechanism, and its innovative approach to rights-based #conservation. The film shows how Indigenous Peoples and local communities can protect ecosystems and store carbon without relying on traditional protected areas. It delves into the efforts and achievements of the #Massaha community, who, with support from the Nsombou Abalghe-Dzal Association (#NADA), successfully advocated for the right to protect their ancestral forest. Their resilience and leadership are proof that community-led conservation, especially with participation of women, can drive real change for both people and the planet. This work is advancing the global goal of 30% nature conservation by 2030, showing that local communities, particularly women, are central to a sustainable future. 🌱 Watch by clicking below! https://lnkd.in/erKWXEpT #REPALEAC, #IfNotUsThenWho, Global Alliance of Territorial Communities, Bezos Earth Fund
