Innovation Centre Denmark Bangalore’s Post

Yesterday we welcomed two special new residents - Their Majesties The King and the Queen of Denmark - to their new home in Bangalore. In a moment filled with both reflection on her incredible legacy and excitement for this new chapter in Danish monarchy, Consul General Eske Bo Rosenberg did the honours of replacing the portrait of HM Queen Margrethe II with a newly-issued portrait of TM King Frederik X and Queen Mary. Since 1972, Danish missions across the world have featured portraits of H.M. Queen Margrethe II, who was monarch for more than five decades before abdicating earlier this year. Also fondly called Daisy, she is the longest reigning monarch in Danish history - so of course we will miss her smiling, regal photo on our wall. The new portrait of Their Majesties was taken by photographer Steen Evald at the historic Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen. It shows the royal couple in gala with the Order of the Elephant. We are proud to bring this part of our royal tradition into the heart of our consulate, where Their Majesties’ presence reminds us of our mission to represent Denmark’s values and heritage around the world.
