Do you know that active listening is as much about tuning into deeper signals within ourselves as it is with others? As William Ury, co-author of Getting to Yes and a renowned expert in negotiation, says, “It may seem odd, but the secret is, if we want to listen to the other side, we have to learn to listen to ourselves first.” This insight is central to our new micro-course, Active Listening Deconstructed: Understanding Nervous System Awareness to Build Deeper Connections. We explored how self-awareness and self-regulation enhance our ability to truly listen. One resource that inspired us during the creation process is the video The Polyvagal Theory: The New Science of Safety and Trauma (YouTube link below 👇). It explains how the nervous system shapes our emotional state automatically and influences our ability to connect. While this video won’t be featured in the course, it deeply informed the exercises we developed to help participants regulate their own nervous systems for enhanced listening. We’re excited to share it with you, hoping it will spark your curiosity to explore how tuning into yourself can deepen your connections — whether at work, at home, or in your community. Watch the Video here: https://lnkd.in/gS3PgfFx More behind-the-scenes insights coming soon! 🌱 #BehindTheScenes #ActiveListening #NervousSystemAwareness #GrowWithOrion
