Here is a collaboration that still needs to happen! CBE already works well with the City of Calgary when it comes to schools but we are still necessarily reactive. It doesn't matter which government is in power, we need to find a better way to build the learning spaces we need, when we need them. Now that this is a national conversation/story perhaps the long standing complex, and systemic challenge of how to build schools will be addressed through necessary collaboration of many partners! https://lnkd.in/g6tni-xT

Great new resource from our Pathways Alliance partners Chapman University CalEPIC program - (California Educator Preparation Innovation Collaborative) who is doing great work throughout the state to promote sustainable teacher residency programs and the benefit of residencies moving from transactional relationships to partnerships with districts. Over the last five years, California has dedicated more than $350 million for teacher residencies to better prepare future educators and help diversify the workforce. Research shows candidates who go through a residency become more effective teachers more quickly than those launching their careers through other pathways, and they are likely to remain in the profession longer. It costs a district roughly $20,000 to hire a new teacher; by reducing turnover, residencies are not only good for new teachers and K-12 students, but also for school district budgets. Great work for Rebecca Hatkoff and Debra Russell https://lnkd.in/guF-dVBz

The problem with the Education system is that it prefers and favours only who are gifted academically, when you are not coping or rather not accomodated by the system, you are labelled a failure or disabled with limited cognitive ability.Teachers are failing to diversify and differentiate teaching methods they lack training and are under pressure to get higher pass rate, therefore neglect others. The Pass rate is increasing but Educational outcomes are dropping. It is easy to improve but pass rate but not teaching and learning. We are running a result-oriented Education, hence Matric results are so prioritised and celebrated. We must begin to train More teachers for Inclusive education, mostly in Primary Schools where these learners can be identified early so that future remedial solutions can be provided. Most learners are stuck in schools, keep on being progressed to the next Grade without any help. They drop out and end up being unemployed because they are discouraged, not rewarded ,not recognised, not appreciated...worse some schools have not prioritised sports and art because they believed to be disturbance to teaching and learning. More to come on this....

The future of some of Sydney’s top-achieving public high schools is uncertain as the NSW government pushes ahead with co-education options citywide. The government is considering major changes to five northern beaches schools, and the plans come as several private boys’ schools also plan transitions to co-education. #sydneyschools #coeducation
