Why I Believe in STEM Access for All: A Year-End Reflection As Chief Program Officer at LET'S GO, I've witnessed firsthand how quality STEM education transforms young lives. Today, I want to share a story that captures why this mission matters. At Wolfe Street Academy, where we serve a predominantly Spanish-speaking community, our impact resonates through stories like this one from Director Calcy Blackwood: "LET'S GO has enabled over 100 students with limited access to experience STEM learning this year. One of our students showcased remarkable leadership skills through our robotics team, carrying these abilities into the classroom. We're now able to offer families experiences they typically couldn't afford, while giving staff new ways to engage students beyond traditional academia. We love LET'S GO." What sets our approach apart? From elementary through high school, students develop essential technical skills while building critical thinking and communication abilities. They're not just learning to use technology – they're becoming creators and innovators. The results are clear: 53% of our students now aspire to become scientists or engineers, up from 42%. 🤝 Join Me in Making a Difference: I'm making my year-end donation to expand these opportunities. Would you consider joining me? ➡️ DONATE: https://lnkd.in/e3YrGrM7 📊 Explore our impact in our 2023-24 Report: https://lnkd.in/eEcWssRq Together, we can make STEM education accessible to all. #LETSGOtheDistanceTogether #STEM #EducationEquity #Innovation #YouthEmpowerment #GivingBack

Ohlone College is proud to announce a $200,000 donation from The Frank DiMino Foundation, a transformative gift that will bolster the mission and programming of the Lytton Center for History and the Public Good. This significant contribution reaffirms The Frank DiMino Foundation’s steadfast commitment to education and equity, a legacy of generosity that has left an indelible mark on Ohlone College since its first monumental donation in 2018. The Frank DiMino Foundation, led by Darren Bardell, Executive Director, initially established its partnership with Ohlone College through a historic $9.8 million gift in 2018—the largest in the college’s history. That initial donation funded scholarships, academic programs, and the construction of the Frank DiMino Academic Core Complex, including the Frank DiMino Science Center, Arts Center, and Learning Commons. “Frank DiMino’s vision for advancing educational access and opportunity continues to shape the futures of Ohlone College’s exceptional students,” said Ohlone College President/Superintendent Charles Sasaki. “This latest donation to the Lytton Center demonstrates an enduring belief in the power of education to inspire justice and inclusion while equipping students with the tools to lead with purpose and resilience. We are profoundly grateful for this continued partnership.”

Minds Matter Boston (MMB) takes a comprehensive approach to ensuring students have all the tools necessary to thrive in highly competitive college environments. From SAT preparation to arranging campus visits, crafting personal statements, seeking scholarships, and honing essential skills like self-advocacy and problem-solving, MMB equips students for success. Since its establishment in 2003, Minds Matter Boston has achieved remarkable outcomes. All program participants have secured admission to four-year colleges, with an impressive 96% successfully graduating. Starting today (Monday, Nov 11th), Rollins College has begun the first ever Student Philanthropy Week. (https://lnkd.in/e5Pdjhfz) This event allows anyone and everyone to donate directly to student organizations, such as our American Chemical Society chapter (The Student Affiliates of the American Chemical Society). As President of the Rollins College ACS Chapter, I want to politely ask my connections to consider giving toward our campaign. You can donate here at this link: https://lnkd.in/e5Pdjhfz In years past, our chapter has been severely lacking funds. As scientists, this of course means we get to be creative in finding low-cost ways to fund our events such as ChemisTEA (where we share a demo on how pH effects teas), Chemistry in Color ( Winter Park Library, aimed toward teaching tweens about the Radium Girls and fluorescence), STEM: Hands on Exploration (at the Winter Park library, aimed toward all age groups to showcase different careers in STEM), at the NOBCChE STEM Fest, and at the Orlando Science Center (for National Chemistry week). However, having a designated amount of funds toward our efforts would be an immense help in our journey to build a strong STEM community, both on campus and in public outreach. For our ACS chapter report for the 2023-2024 academic year, the most common request we received was to find a way to obtain funding. This year, Student Philanthropy Week is our opportunity to do so. So I humbly ask those in my network to please consider giving toward our chapter. During this week (Nov 11 to 15th), anything you give will be added to different challenges, meaning we have the potential to win more funds towards our group. #americanchemicalsociety #ACSChapter #RollinsCollege #StudentPhilanthropyWeek #Giving #publicoutreach #chemistry

Dear Friends and Supporters, I am excited to launch a fundraising campaign to raise $5,000 to provide 20 laptops, 1 printer, and several STEM kits to 100 low-income K-12 female students in Togo, West Africa, enrolled in our K-12 African Girls STEM Academy. Like in many African countries, K-12 students in Togo do not have access to STEM education. To address this, my 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Empowering African Youth, designed a STEM program that includes the K-12 African Girls STEM Academy, exclusively for middle school girls. Why This Matters: We currently have only 1 laptop for every 50 students. With 152 middle school girls enrolled in our K-12 African Girls STEM Academy, we possess just 3 laptops, limited STEM kits, and no printers. By raising $5,000, we will significantly increase access to technology and quality STEM education, and enhance critical thinking and problem-solving skills in hundreds of middle school girls in Togo, enabling them to reach their full potential. A Personal Story: Meet Esi Yawo (holding the laptop in the picture below), a bright and ambitious 7th-grade student from Tsevie, Togo. Despite the financial and educational challenges she faces, Esi dreams of becoming an engineer. However, her school lacks computer, STEM education, and she has never had the opportunity to use a computer. Thanks to the Empowering African Youth STEM Program, Esi is now learning to use a computer. With your support, we can provide Esi and the hundreds of students like her with the tools they need to pursue their dreams. Imagine the impact we can make by giving these young minds the chance to explore, create, and innovate through our K-12 African Girls STEM Academy. How You Can Help: Donate: Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us closer to our goal. Your donation will directly impact the lives of these students. Share my fundraising link and spread the word about our campaign on social media, with friends, and within your community: https://lnkd.in/e-ReuMPz The more people who know about our cause, the greater our impact. Together, we can make a difference. Let's give these girls the tools they need to succeed and inspire the next generation of innovators and leaders in Africa. Thank you for your support! https://lnkd.in/e-ReuMPz
