🎉 Excited to Share My Latest Project Milestone! 🎥 I recently completed the Software-in-the-Loop (SITL) simulation for the PX4 autopilot using jMAVSim and QGroundControl in Ubuntu, and I’m thrilled to share a video of the simulation in action! This project gave me hands-on experience with: ✅ Setting up and running the PX4 SITL environment. ✅ Understanding the default configurations and how they enable seamless simulations. ✅ Exploring the interplay between jMAVSim for 3D visualization and QGroundControl for mission planning and monitoring. 🚀 Why This Matters: Simulations are a critical first step in UAV development, providing a safe environment to test control systems and mission scenarios. The SITL simulation also sets a strong foundation for Hardware-in-the-Loop (HITL) testing, where real hardware can be integrated into the simulation environment for more advanced testing and validation. 🔙 A Look Back at Our History with Reality Capture! 📸🛰️ It's pretty amazing to reflect on all the exciting things we've done since we started back in 2017. 🚀 We've always been early adopters, particularly on 360-photography and mobile LiDAR. 📱🔍 🎥 Over the next few weeks, we’ll share some videos we made back in the day. First up is a video from 2019, when we did a scan job in winter-wonderful Vadsø – an exciting and challenging project using the iconic PX-80 scanner from Paracosm. The PX-80 was a mobile scanner that was ahead of its time in many ways, but it also came with a few challenges. ⚙️ 📌 At that time, we were actually resellers of this scanner, which is no longer in production. We thought it was only fitting to make a video for it, and the result turned out pretty awesome, if we do say so ourselves! 🤩 The video shows the scanner in action, though we have to admit, the scan results weren’t ideal for buildings with small cellular offices. 🏢 PX-80 was better suited for larger, open outdoor areas. 🌍 But still, the point clouds we got out of it were stunning! ✨ 🥵 It wasn’t all easy – PX-80 was heavy! But we "lifehacked" our way around it by buying a bannerholder with a strap to carry it in.
