Meet Adriana P., who is at the helm of Sigma Software Brasil!  Adriana navigates her role with passion and dedication. With the challenges of leading her first team remotely during the pandemic and bridging language barriers, Adriana's leadership has been a testament to her adaptability and effective communication. Adriana's involvement in women's communities across Brazil and initiating "Women in Tech" meetups on behalf of Sigma Software are central to her mission to empower women in tech. She extends her influence through volunteer mentoring, guiding other women to recognize and reach their potential. Adriana envisions a future where gender equity in tech is not a topic of discussion but a norm, where women apply for roles confidently, unencumbered by self-doubt. In Sigma Software, she values flexibility and support. This helps her balance her professional and personal life as a mother, fostering work-life harmony and preventing burnout, allowing her to be a thriving leader. For women aspiring to leadership roles in tech, Adriana's advice is: - to believe in one's abilities,  - remain open to learning, and  - seek inspiration from other women leaders without falling into the comparison trap. Our diversity basic training with Nastya (Anastasiya) Matchanka was an opportunity for participants to acquire knowledge in the field of diversity and to translate theoretical diversity concepts to a practical level through self-reflection. We addressed the following questions: – what is the link between diversity and discrimination?  – how do our biases come about and what can we do to try and spot them? – who defines “the norm” and why and how can we critically question it? – why is it important not only to talk but also to do diversity? We also looked at internalised prejudices and discussed their effects in the business context and in our private lives. We dived deeper into individual discrimination characteristics and looked at where the stereotyping of individual groups comes from and how important it is to constantly and critically question your own thought patterns. Thanks to the different perspectives in the room and for a great learning atmosphere that we were able to create! Thank you Nastya (Anastasiya) Matchanka for guiding the session and filling it with exciting practical exercises that definitely left the participants with food for thought for the weeks to come. Well here’s the official announcement, so it’s great to share that I've been awarded Fellowship of the Institute of Internal Communication 🎉 During the process I had a great chat with Suzanne Peck and Dominic Walters - we talked everything from strategy to reputational challenges. It demonstrated the depth and rigor that goes into Fellowship. It's not just about recognition, but about the genuine impact we can have on our profession. Massive thanks to Dan Holden for sponsoring and supporting, and Annabel Wise for seconding. Also thanks to my SJP boss Kirsty Thomas, who has to put up with my endless… well say enthusiasm, for all things comms! For me, Fellowship represents so much more than recognition - it's about giving back to our profession and championing what we do. Anyone who knows me will tell you I'm passionate about continuous professional development. It's about pushing ourselves to learn, adapt, and excel at what we do. In a profession that's constantly evolving, you have to adapt and keep on eye on what’s happening. I'm genuinely excited to work with the IoIC, and our wider comms community to explore what's next for our industry. I’ll also continue to champion the value of chartership with Chartered Institute of Public Relations. There's something special about being part of a profession that's always moving forward - even if it does keep us on our toes!
