Our special guest, Lorenzo Thione, Managing Director of Gaingels, Co-founder of StartOut, and Broadway Producer, delivered an eye-opening talk on the role of AI in industrial Competitiveness and Value Creation. 💡One of his key takeaways resonated deeply, he highlighted how #AI is becoming a foundational element of industries, suggesting that—much like internet companies in the early 2000s—AI will soon be so integrated into #businesses that every company could be considered an AI company. The discussion offered a fresh perspective on AI's transformative power, highlighting how it’s set to become a universal driver across industries—an essential ingredient for #growth and #innovation. 🚀 💓 A heartfelt thank you to all who joined us and to Lorenzo for sharing his insights. Events like these reinforce the power of #diversity in driving innovation and investing. Hey everyone! As we dive into #PrideMonth, let’s take a moment to think about how our tech world, especially AI, connects with the values of the #LGBTQI+ community. AI has this amazing potential to make our societies more inclusive and fair, but we need to tackle the biases that can creep into these systems. The data that trains AI often mirrors our society’s prejudices, which can end up reinforcing stereotypes and discrimination. To truly make a difference, we need diverse teams working on AI and make sure our data includes all identities. AI isn’t just about tech; it can be a real game-changer for support and advocacy within the #LGBTQI+ community. From better mental health support through AI chatbots to personalized healthcare treatments, the possibilities are huge. But we need to handle these advancements with care and empathy, making sure they respect privacy and dignity. This Pride Month let’s commit to using AI for good, to lift up marginalized voices and make sure everyone feels seen and valued. Together, we can create a world where technology and humanity thrive together. Happy #PrideMonth! 🏳️🌈 Ezequiel Massa Matheus Souza Cássio Christianini #PrideMonth #LGBTQIA #AI #Inclusion #TechForGood #SAP

Can AI shape the future of talent sourcing innovation? Absolutely. As a information specialist focused on identifying the best tools and resources to source talent, AI has offered a solution to a major issue in sourcing -- one dimensional talent databases. One dimensional means a tool's capacity to source talent outside of your network or ecosystem is very limited. A big thank you to Tina Paikeday and Hariharan Kolam for inviting Latino Corporate Directors Association (LCDA) to be part of the innovate experiment. It was additionally exciting to collaborate with wonderful leaders like Anna Mok, Karen Greenbaum, Ellen Bailey, Dr. Kellie A. McElhaney, John Iino, Erika Haas, and Jorge Barrios Gonzalez. LCDA looks forward to diving more into the impact of AI and its benefits in elevating untapped Hispanic/Latino talent.
Latino Corporate Directors Association (LCDA) recently participated in an Artificial Intelligence (AI) experiment exploring the potential for AI to mitigate talent sourcing bias rather than perpetuate it. Led by Tina Paikeday of Findem, along with the Berkeley Haas Center for Equity, Gender & Leadership at the University of California, Berkeley Haas School of Business, the findings highlighted how AI and data can transform talent sourcing decision-making, particularly for communities more challenging to source (e.g Latinos, Disability, Native Americans, LGBTQ+, etc. LCDA was proud to collaborate with leading organizations including Association of Executive Search and Leadership Consultants (AESC), Ascend, Harvard Business Publishing, Stanford VMware Women's Leadership Innovation Lab, and many others. LCDA is committed to learning how innovative technologies can increase opportunities to elevate board proven and board-aspiring talent and shape the future of talent innovation. How do you see AI transforming the way we hire and build diverse leadership?

AI's influence on culture and creativity is multifaceted. This post from Bigmouth Creative highlights key points around representation, authenticity, and the dual nature of AI's impact. It's worth a read!
AI uses what it’s been fed to build what it deems to be the “perfect” version of a user’s query. But when it comes to images of queer people, AI’s interpretation is far from perfect. A recent Wired article (https://lnkd.in/gWYQqnar) found generative AI tools like Stable Diffusion and Midjourney built images that “universally responded with stereotypical depictions of LGBTQ culture” — fair-skinned men and women with chiseled abs or short hair and nose rings. Images of nonbinary people rarely appeared. Steven M. Koch, a queer Chicago photographer and Bigmouth collaborator, uses AI as a brainstorming tool or to fill in the background gaps in a larger image after further modification. But he draws a hard line when it comes to AI and depicting real people. “AI is trying to epitomize a fantasy,” he says. “But that’s the individual choice of each artist. I don’t trust AI to create anything that’s specific toward our community.” Clients are already turning to AI for murals and employee headshots, and Steven says creatives are responsible for teaching them the power of genuinely good photography. “I feel artists will consistently push the idea of authenticity,” he says. The topic of awareness around AI’s biases is particularly relevant during Pride month, when idealized images of LGBTQ+ people are frequently used in rainbow-washing 🌈 (See our previous post on this: https://lnkd.in/dNBVu7dD). “AI will pander to a wide audience and do its best not to anger or challenge,” Steven says. “Don’t take AI at its word — thinking outside its box will help AI become more of a tool than something people rely on.” ➡ LEARN MORE: Steven recommends the Apple TV+ documentary Visible: Out on Television to anyone interested in learning how images of LGBTQ+ people in popular culture have shaped our perception and shifted over time: https://lnkd.in/d8ZpxTA3 #AI #queerrepresentation #bias #lgbtq+ #authenticity

Embracing Change: Reflections on Technological Evolution and Its Impact We are living in an era defined by profound and rapid change, particularly in the realm of technology. I find myself compelled not only to acknowledge these shifts but to embrace them fully. Change, after all, is inevitable—and when approached with an open mind, it becomes an extraordinary catalyst for growth and innovation. I consider myself fortunate to belong to a generation that has witnessed some of the most groundbreaking transformations firsthand. I’ve held a vinyl record in my hands, pressed play on a cassette tape, and marveled at the sudden transition to CDs. I remember watching movies on VHS, followed by the thrill of having Netflix DVDs delivered straight to my doorstep. From tuning into satellite TV to streaming on-demand, I’ve lived through these changes—not as stories told to me, but as moments I experienced myself. These shifts extend far beyond technology, touching every aspect of our lives. They serve as a reminder that evolution is not just necessary; it’s a powerful force that can bring about positive change when used responsibly. The rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is one such transformative milestone. For me, AI represents an exciting new chapter, full of potential for learning, creativity, and progress. Take, for instance, how the LGBTQ+ community has embraced AI for trip planning. Leveraging this technology to design personalized itineraries, ensure safety, and identify inclusive destinations has revolutionized travel. This approach not only empowers travelers to make informed choices but also showcases the community’s role as pioneers in shaping the future of tourism. Ultimately, change is what we make of it. By walking hand-in-hand with these advancements, we unlock opportunities to learn, grow, and create a better future for all. The key lies in our willingness to adapt and harness the power of innovation to drive meaningful, positive change.
