Last week, President Biden signed a groundbreaking executive order to expand access to and improve research on #womenshealth in the United States. The order pledges $200 million in funding for the next fiscal year to better understand issues affecting women, a pledge that is long overdue, but nonetheless revelatory in the current political environment. A key aspect of this initiative is the Administration's directive to study how #AI can be leveraged to enhance women's health #research. By harnessing AI's power, researchers hope to uncover new #insights, identify patterns, and accelerate the pace of discovery in this critically important field. The #EO also mandates medical research improve the recruitment, enrollment, and retention of women in clinical trials, including by reducing barriers through technological and #data science advances, addressing the longstanding issue of women being underrepresented in such trials. This #executive action represents a significant step towards not only prioritizing women's health across the government and addressing persistent #gender disparities in medical research, but it also looks to use #emerging technologies to close those gaps. This is an incredibly exciting step and helps to cement the fact that we shouldn't shy away from safely deploying new and advancing technologies to help solve complicated, systemic issues. My colleague Joseph Hoefer, Monument Advocacy's AI lead, and I are eager to see how this EO is deployed and what comes next!

ACT to End Violence Against Women is a new game-changing commitment between the European Commission and UN Women that aims to accelerate efforts to eliminate all forms of violence against women through Advocacy, Coalition Building, and Transformative Feminist Action. Through direct investments in feminist movements, strengthening intersectional alliances, and coordinating a shared advocacy agenda, ACT will amplify women’s rights movements as they coordinate their push for justice. Global emergencies, crises, and conflict have intensified the drivers and risk factors of violence against women and girls. Digitalization and technology have exacerbated existing forms of violence and led to the development of new forms. However, there is more evidence than ever before showing that violence against women and girls is preventable. The presence of a strong and autonomous feminist movement is the single most critical factor to drive policy change in ending violence against women.
