In the Philippines, work isn't just about getting a paycheck. Filipinos also focus on what makes their work meaningful. As someone who helps connect Filipino talents with international clients, I find myself passionate about learning their culture and values to ensure a perfect match between them. So I stumbled upon a framework that emphasizes core Filipino values and their unique perspective on work. It is called Filipino Virtue Ethics (FVE). Through these values, FVE defines meaningful work differently. It's not just about individual gain but also about: - using your skills and talents to make a positive impact on a shared goal. - being recognized and appreciated for your efforts by colleagues and superiors. - living up to the trust placed in you and fulfilling a sense of duty to your team and organization. What Filipino values do you love the most?

"Because I'm happy?" PR stunts after PR stunts, do we really think the people are genuinely happy? Interestingly the contents of the post is very much similar to my updated bio. I updated it to reflect more of my values (SPACE), motto and quotes that drive me towards improving the industry wherever I go. And #StaffWellfair has become an important part of what I do. Exploiting every loophole out there, what I do is not subject to Audit & Compliance, not subject to Brief, Read & Sign (BRS), not subject to "You not happy, you quit!". What I do is for my people, the people I work very closely with on a day-to-day basis. That is what StaffWellfair, well and fair staff welfare is about. And it will forever be true volunteerism, because I choose to do it. This is why I say I will never abuse power that's given to me. I will instead make use of that power to give you the best working environment possible. The same way I had certain power in NS, but never abused it. I will always be HAPPY TO CSER-VE YOU 🙂

🌟 Embracing the FIST Philosophy: The Joy of Work 🌟 During my recent trip to Singapore, I had the pleasure of meeting Aunt Jock Mui, a remarkable 65-year-old woman who served us breakfast every day at the Atrium restaurant, Holiday Inn. Her story is truly inspiring and a powerful reminder of the value of hard work and dedication. Aunt Jock Mui isn’t just any ordinary worker; she is a shining example of the best way to grow old. Despite being financially independent with her successful children and luxury foreign vacations, she chooses to work 11 hours a day 😳, five days a week. Her reason? She loves staying busy and finds immense joy in her work 😎. Remarkably, Aunt Mui is also learning English at the age of 65, showcasing that it’s never too late to learn something new. Her story is a beautiful reminder that wealth isn’t just about money; it’s about choosing how to spend your time. Aunt Jock Mui embodies the true spirit of the FIRE (Financial Independence, Retire Early) philosophy but with a twist. It was 1996 - what was really behind that smile? It was my second year in New Zealand, after my dad packed up the house, and moved all of us thousands of kilometers across the world. I didn't want to move. I was super happy in Malaysia, doing great at my studies, excelling at sports and had some very good friends and a great community. I don't think people would understand how disorienting it is to move countries at the age of 15! Just moving schools is tough enough. The culture shock was real, and not only did I go through a personal identity crisis, I also experienced a cultural identity crisis. During those years, I avoided immigrants and would only befriend European, Maori, Pasifika New Zealanders or New Zealand born Asians because I thought that was the right thing to do. I really just wanted to be accepted. Thank God for sports. I was good at it. As I played sports, represented my school and interacted with my team mates, it helped me to settle into my own. When I got to the end of year 12 (form 6), the process for selecting prefects (school leaders) happened, and I didn't think much of it. I thought - "why would kiwis want an immigrant to be a leader"? But to my surprise, my name was read out when they announced the Prefect team for my final year at school! I have to say that "shocked" does not even come close to describing how I felt then. I believe that I was the first prefect of Asian descent at my school. I later discovered that Mr Ryan, my squash coach had nominated me because I was the team captain. As I reflect back on this picture, behind that smile was a slightly insecure, people pleasing young man, who was still struggling with his self esteem. What Mr Ryan (and others) did for me, to encourage me and showing their belief in me, has led me to my "WHY". People often ask me why I left a lucrative corporate career, to start with no income and dedicate my life to mentoring and helping young people and their families.
