IEEE Region 8 (Europe, Middle East & Africa) (through its IEEE Region 8 Humanitarian Technology Activities Committee) and IEEE Tech4Good are partnering to conduct a collaborative call for proposals to support SIGHT Groups (and prospective SIGHT Groups) in Region 8 who would like to address local community challenges. The IEEE Tech4Good program offers funding opportunities to support grassroots technological projects, led by IEEE members, that address local challenges related to sustainable development. The IEEE Region 8 Humanitarian Technology Activities Committee takes a futurist approach aiding the development of innovative methods to support underserved communities within the region in addressing needs to improve livelihood. The core aim of this call for proposals is to support SIGHT Groups in the region with great initiatives and creative technological solutions for local communities. Proposed solutions must have a sustainability plan in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and take into account cost-effectiveness, environmental sustainability, trust-enhancement, relevance to users and community, community buy-in, and accessibility. #connectivity #sustainability #engineers #SocioEconomicDevelopment #techforgood #ICT4D #IEEE

🌱 Attending the 2nd edition of Latitude59xKenya reinforced one undeniable truth: 🌍 Africa isn’t just part of the global tech conversation—it’s shaping it. The energy in the room was palpable, with every conversation brimming with possibilities! ✏️ Key themes from the conference that stood out included "How Tech is Driving the Green Revolution," discussed by Celeste Vogel, Oliver August, and Utari Wanjohi. Another thought-provoking discussion featured insights from Mareme Dieng and Caleb Maru, as they explored the question: "Is African tech overrated or underrated?" ✨ The conference reaffirmed that Africa’s tech story is no longer just about potential—it’s a narrative of action and impact! All in all, witnessing firsthand how a community committed to Africa’s transformation is also shaping the future of global technology was truly inspiring. #Latitude59 #EmpowerThroughTech #TechConference
