A POSITIVE STEP FOR CHILDCARE WORKERS ... AND EQUALITY: One of the messages from the research on the gender pay gap is that structural and historical factors play a large role in the outcome. Measures such as equal remuneration orders and (now) multi-employer agreements can help increase wages in those industries that have historically been unable to achieve the pay outcomes reflective of male-dominated industries. This has been a positive use of the new laws, which appears to be supported by industry. https://lnkd.in/gRUAtJXR

Empowering Working Mothers: The Supreme Court's Stand on Childcare Leave The Supreme Court's recent verdict has reaffirmed a crucial aspect of gender equality and work-life balance in India. In a landmark decision, the court emphasized that childcare leave for women is not just a privilege but a constitutional mandate. The case of Shalini Dharmani, an assistant professor facing challenges due to her child's rare medical condition, highlighted the necessity of extending support to working mothers. The court's stance, asserting the right to two-year childcare leave alongside the mandatory maternity leave, is a significant step towards empowering women in the workforce. As professionals committed to fostering inclusive workplaces, let's celebrate this progressive move and continue advocating for policies that promote gender equality and support working parents. Together, we can create a more equitable and compassionate work environment. #GenderEquality #WorkLifeBalance #SupremeCourtVerdict

This news highlights a significant challenge facing women in the workforce - the high costs of childcare. This issue has major implications for gender equality and economic empowerment. As childcare expenses continue to rise, it becomes a barrier for many women who want to pursue their careers or advance in the workforce. Companies and policymakers need to address this issue to support working parents, especially mothers, in balancing work and family responsibilities. Flexible work arrangements, subsidies for childcare, and supportive work cultures are crucial in ensuring women can fully participate in the workforce. Investing in accessible and affordable childcare has broader benefits for the economy, including increased workforce participation, higher productivity, and stronger economic growth. It's essential to recognize and address the structural barriers that hinder women's progress in the workforce to build a more inclusive and equitable society. #GenderEquality #WorkLifeBalance #EconomicEmpowerment

Sweden pulls it out of the bag again 👊🇸🇪 Parents can transfer their paid leave to friends or family to look after their children; meaning they can get help from trusted loved ones and pay them for their work! This is a game changer for working families. Single parents can transfer 90 days. This is an important point as we should be giving single parents more help, as they are carrying double the load and have been completely ignored by employee benefits. 💥Over 480 days of paid leave as standard per child, this 👇🏼 is what it means to support working parents. #singleparents #supportworkingfamilies
