To boost renewable energy in India's #TamilNadu, IFC is working with the Tamil Nadu Infrastructure Development Board and Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corporation to structure a pumped storage #hydropower project as a #PPP in the town of Velimalai. IFC will advise on a competitive process to select an experienced developer to raise private finance, construct, operate, and maintain the project. Tamil Nadu is a leading state in India in #renewableenergy capacity. With the capacity of 1100 MW, the project aims to provide additional power during peak demand and supports the state’s plan to generate 50% of its energy through renewable energy sources by 2030. This requires adequate energy storage to provide flexibility in balancing intermittent solar and wind power generation capacity. The PPP will be supported by Japan - The Government of Japan which is focused on quality infrastructure to boost economic growth and address climate change. 🌊🏭⚡ Thomas Lubeck Sumeet Kaur Bhanu Mehrotra #PPP4Dev #PublicPrivatePartnerships #RenewableEnergy #JapanGov

📰 Press Release: Pachora Hybrid Power Plant Achieves Financial Close in India 🌍☀️💨 Blueleaf Energy is excited to announce the financial close of our 200 MW hybrid wind-solar power plant in Madhya Pradesh, India. This landmark project marks a significant step towards our goal of deploying 5 GW of renewable energy capacity in India by 2030. The project features an innovative offtake structure that unbundles the environmental and energy components of the green power the plant will produce. This unique approach enables us to offer International Renewable Energy Certificates (I-RECs), providing a pathway to net zero for large companies facing challenges accessing renewable energy. Beyond energy generation, this project represents our strong commitment to ESG. The power plant will create numerous jobs for the local community during both construction and operation, while delivering over 600 gigawatt hours (GWh) of clean, renewable energy annually to the Indian grid starting in 2025. That is enough green energy to power over 550,000 Indian households. Axis Bank, a leading Indian private sector bank, is our primary project finance lender for this project. We’re thrilled to have their support as we bring this sustainable energy initiative to life. We look forward to collaborating with the local community to successfully deliver this project, which will provide long-term environmental and social benefits for generations to come.
