Innovation is a big thing for any marketeer as it's a cool tool to drive brand affinity and, eventually, sales. But is there such a thing as innovating for the sake of innovation? The trend of undetachable caps on bottles is a prime example. While some brands have succeeded in making it cool (e.g. Cristaline), others - less so. Take the latest example from S. Pellegrino, for instance. In fact, when i saw this "innovative" bottle for the first time i was so confused that just cut it off with scissors :-( And after all, the caps and bottles are recycled separately. So, are we expected to cut off the caps, once bottle is empty? Am I missing something here? #brand #brandmarketing #innovation
