Every year, on the 12th of August, International Youth Day is celebrated. It is a special occasion dedicated to recognising the potential, achievements and contributions of young people across the globe. This day is not just about highlighting the challenges that youth face but also about celebrating their role as essential partners in building a better future. From driving digital innovation to championing social causes, today’s youth are at the forefront of change, making their mark on every aspect of society. "Today, we celebrate the power, potential, and passion of young people around the world. International Youth Day is a reminder that our generation has the capacity to shape the future and create positive change.” We are the leaders, innovators, and problem-solvers of tomorrow. We are the ones who will inherit the consequences of today's actions, and we are the ones who will drive progress and innovation. As young people, we face unique challenges - from climate change to social inequality, from mental health to economic uncertainty. But we also have unique strengths - our energy, creativity, and idealism. Let us harness these strengths to: - Demand action on climate change and sustainability - Fight for equality, justice, and human rights - Support mental health and wellbeing initiatives - Embrace diversity, inclusivity, and cultural exchange We are the future, and the future is now. Let us work together to create a world that is just, equitable, and sustainable for all. Courtesy: AMB. Ifeoluwa BAMIGBADE NATIONAL AMBASSADOR(OYO CENTRAL SENATORIAL DISTRICT)NYAN Vice chairman(NYAC)

International Youth Day is observed annually on August 12th to celebrate the achievements and potential of young people worldwide. This day, established by the United Nations, promotes youth engagement, participation, and development, emphasizing the crucial role young individuals play in shaping our future. Every year, International Youth Day is centered around a specific theme that reflects pressing global challenges and priorities related to youth. These themes guide discussions, events, and initiatives designed to empower and support young people in various aspects of their lives. Past themes have encompassed areas such as education, employment, health, human rights, and climate change. For International Youth Day 2024, the theme “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development" highlights the transformative power of digitalization in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As young people lead the charge in digital adoption, they play a crucial role in leveraging technologies like AI and mobile services to drive sustainable change. Despite challenges, especially in low-income areas, youth are recognized as digital natives essential to addressing global issues and accelerating progress towards a more sustainable future by 2030. International Youth Day is celebrated worldwide through a diverse range of activities, including conferences, workshops, seminars, cultural events, and campaigns. It provides an opportunity for governments, organizations, and individuals to come together to recognize the potential of young people and to address the obstacles they face. By celebrating the significance of youth and their contributions, International Youth Day reinforces global efforts to create a better and more sustainable future for all generations. #internationalyouthday #internationalyouthday2024 #empoweryouth #futuretalent #youthleadership

As we celebrate International Youth Day 2024, I am thrilled to highlight the theme: “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development.” This year, the focus is on harnessing the power of digital innovation to drive sustainable progress and create meaningful change. The youth population in Sierra Leone is substantial and makes up one third of the total population (Approximately 1 500 000 young women and men). Of this group, 70% are underemployed or unemployed and 50% illiterate and unskilled. Youth Day presents an opportunity for every country to assess their investment in and commitment to youth, as well as general education (both of and to youth). Endorsed by the United Nations in 1999 after a recommendation was made by the World Conference of Ministers Responsible for Youth, the first International Youth Day took place in the summer of 2000. Although its purpose was certainly meant to inspire and encourage leaders of countries to be aware of issues related to youth, its sentiment can be passed down far away from political leaders and into the culture of each land’s up and coming generations. That means that International Youth Day should not only be engaged at a global level and national level, but also at a local level. And this can be done by the people who know and love the youth of their communities. International Youth Day is meant to empower young people to participate in public life so that they are prepared and equipped to contribute to society’s development all around the world. Happy International Youth Day!

INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY Today I woke up and realized it's International Youth Day. As I sit down to write, I remembered a song we used to sing in primary school. “Parents listen to your children, We are the leaders of tomorrow Try to pay our school fees and give Us sound education.” We sang this song passionately and loudly without knowing what the future held for us. However, the line that resonated with me the most was 'We are the leaders of tomorrow.' As a young individual, I am firm in my belief that we are not just the leaders of tomorrow, but also the leaders of today. The journey towards making tangible impacts starts now. As we celebrate International Youth Day 2024 with the theme “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development.” This theme highlights the vital role young people play in driving change through digital innovation. In an era where technology shapes our everyday lives, youth are not just consumers but creators, problem-solvers, and leaders in building a sustainable future. This year’s theme reminds us that every click, swipe, and tap can lead to meaningful progress. From coding apps that tackle climate change to using social media platforms to raise awareness on global issues, young people are harnessing the power of digital tools to create real-world impact. However, not everyone has equal access to these digital tools, which can limit opportunities for some. This day reminds us to support young people by ensuring they have the resources and education needed to contribute to sustainable development. Let’s celebrate the creativity and drive of youth, encouraging them to continue turning their digital actions into meaningful progress for a brighter, more sustainable world. Today I am taking time to celebrate everyone who has taken time to make a tremendous impact. You can tag those you wish to celebrate today in the comment section. Happy International Youth Day. #InternationalYouthDay2024 #InternationalYouthDay

🌍 Happy International Youth Day 2024! 🌍 🎉 The International Youth Day, observed on August 12, is an awareness day established by the United Nations to spotlight important cultural and legal issues affecting young people. The day aims to highlight and address various challenges and opportunities related to youth, fostering greater understanding and action on their behalf. 🌟 This year’s theme, “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development” underscores the powerful role digital technologies play in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Digitalization is not only transforming our world but also providing unprecedented opportunities to accelerate sustainable development. According to the UN, technologies like mobile devices, digital platforms, and artificial intelligence are essential in achieving at least 70% of the 169 SDG targets and could reduce the cost of reaching these goals by up to USD 55 trillion. 📱In 2022, three-quarters of youth aged 15 to 24 were active internet users, demonstrating their leadership in digital adoption and innovation. Despite this, challenges remain, especially for young people in low-income countries and among young women, who often face barriers to digital access and skills. However, youth, often seen as “digital natives,” are crucial in driving technological change and creating solutions that address global issues as we approach the 2030 SDG deadline. 💡At Development Analytics, we celebrate youth’s digital contributions and their potential to inspire further innovation and collaboration. Our 2020 project, “Enhancing Advocacy Capacities of Youth CSOs in Turkey,” focused on empowering youth through research, advocacy, and training, aiming to address issues such as NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) and enhance the impact of youth-focused civil society organizations. 🔗 To learn more about our study, please view our report by following: https://lnkd.in/dXddc8pq 🌐Join us in recognizing the transformative power of youth and digital innovation this International Youth Day!
