Ogbomoso has a special place in my heart. My first time in the city was a long time ago in 2018 where I collaborated with the team at Ennovate Lab to design and deliver the first Ogbomoso Innovation Challenge through a Binghamton University grant. We did this for secondary school students, reached about 250 of them - and this event led to so many things in the years after. Long story short, I was super excited to support Oladotun's work with University Students and share a few thoughts on the future of work last Saturday. I mentioned three perspectives on leading the future of work: 👉🏾 Developing a human-centric vision: the best ideas and solutions are only so because they're relevant to humans (or what they care about). Leading the future of work isn't just about creating the next best tech tool but using available resources/technology to solve human problems. As a creator, entrepreneur, employee, gig worker, etc...who do you have in mind as you think about applying your capacity to solve problems? 👉🏾 Developing a human-centered design approach to solving problems: the first point speaks to the what, this second one, the how. In what ways are you listening to and co-creating with those you serve? 👉🏾 Developing a constructive mindset: as a coach, I couldn't escape this point. Coaching many leaders has shown me how much our mindsets can limit our leadership or supercharge our capacity to drive innovation & change. What do you need to believe about yourself to effectively drive/shape the future of work? I'm truly excited about the future of Ogbomoso (see what I did? 😁), and I'm thrilled at the opportunity to contribute in these small ways. If you would like to support this city; please check out: ✅ Oladotun Ajayi's page for all he's doing to ensure Ogbomoso's students and other Nigerian young adults are future-ready. ✅ Jesudamilare Adesegun-David's page (Ennovate Lab's CEO who connected me) for the community-transformation work he's doing. To the future!

#JerooSays "Am I a social Innovator? Who is a social innovator? What does it mean to be a social innovator? I explore these questions as I try to unpack the social innovation sector to conceptualise the collective establishment of a social innovation ecosystem. Social innovators, the architects of change, are the visionaries who confront social challenges with a sense of purpose and a determination to make the world a better place. They are individuals, organisations, or groups who seek innovative solutions to address our pressing social, environmental, or economic issues. " Do you challenge the status quo, seeking alternative pathways forward? Are you a social innovator? I invite you to reflect on your own actions and decisions. Do you challenge the status quo, seeking alternative pathways forward? If so, you might just be a social innovator. #socialinnovation #socialinnovator

𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐡𝐮𝐛𝐬 & 𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐲𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠. With governments and businesses investing trillions globally, success hinges on collaboration, adaptive leadership, and strategic vision. 🌍 Yesterday, Schønning Eysturoy from our team at Wazoku hosted an interactive webinar about the Power of Ecosystems with Foster Awintiti Akugri from our Ecosystem Partner, The Innovation Village. The team at the Innovation Village are trailblazers of innovation in Uganda, fostering entrepreneurship and technology to solve industry and community challenges. With a network of talent, capital, and physical assets, they are leading the region into Industry 4.0. For organizations undergoing transformation or seeking sustainable growth, building an ecosystem of internal and external players can be immensely beneficial - enabling collaboration, expanding market access, strengthening operations, and unlocking new revenue streams. As part of our strategic partnership, I'm excited to be working hand in hand with the great team at Innovation Village, Arthur, Loise, and Jack, to launch challenges with their industry partners, and to explore opportunities to drive positive change and innovation across various sectors! I'm keen to speak to more business leaders about what they are currently doing in this space. It would be great to share learnings and insights. Feel free to drop me a message. ☕ I've linked the webinar below for those who missed it. Definitely worth a watch! See the comments below.

Just finished the course “Leading with Innovation” by Anil Gupta and Haiyan Wang! The course on Leading with Innovation, presented by strategy experts Anil Gupta and Haiyan Wang, is a must for anyone eager to foster a culture of creativity within their organization. Their insights into the essential role of innovation for survival, regardless of company size or sector, are both inspiring and practical. I found their exploration of design thinking, lean startup principles, and collaborative innovation particularly enlightening, as they demonstrate how organizations can innovate while maintaining control. The examples from industry giants like Apple, Amazon, and Google illustrate effective strategies in action. I also appreciated their discussions on redefining target customers and value propositions, as well as the importance of digital transformation and social innovation. This course provides valuable tools and strategies for uncovering new pathways to innovation, and I am excited to apply these concepts to drive meaningful change in my own organization! #BNIUniversity #BUMNLearningFestival #BLF-BNI Check it out: https://lnkd.in/gJNnFG-r #innovationmanagement.

🛑 We love innovators! And, what if most innovators (tech, social, other) might be of higher service to stop? Take a step back, see the silliness and violence they may be causing to themselves and others (family, team, customers, commons), work to know themselves better... 🐣 We gotta empower next gen innovators! And, how might aspiring innovators (#1 career aspiration for hundreds of millions of college students globally) flourish if they dissolved the illusion that achievement will solve feelings of inadequacy? See how they will likely exacerbate violence to self and whole, and change course while they still have the neuroplasticity... 🌱 We need lots of innovation to support The Great Turning / Great Simplification / Game B / etc! And, is it possible to avoid reproducing the same problems we seek to transcend, without a whole different ecosystem of education, culture, tools and processes to support wise innovation? 🍲 What if the most effective innovations won’t necessarily be technical, but cultural and relational and spiritual? And what if much of that is about remembering and adapting from deep traditions, not necessarily creating new things? 🤔 What if much of what we've learned about innovation turns out to be regressive, imbalanced, incomplete, foolish for our current context? "When social systems are in periods of rapid transformation, the role of schools becomes contradictory. They teach knowledge that is no longer relevant, socialize individuals into roles that no longer exist, and provide the mindsets needed to continue ways of life that are rapidly disappearing.” - Zak Stein

We are all creators/innovators but are limited by our fears, previous bad experiences, or misconceptions. This week at Compassion International Uganda we saw 5 ideas come to life as we held our first innovation week. The hackathon allowed the staff to think outside the box to provide sustainable solutions to 5 challenges in the organization. The most rewarding part is that I am part of the team that organized it. Kudos to Brenda Abeja Aidah Agwang Emmanuel Makafu Audrey Karuhanga for the job well done. Most of us get bored with our work because we get stuck in applying conventional approaches to contemporary challenges. The workspace keeps evolving creating room for ideas/innovations. Sometimes you simply need to tweak a process to create lasting impact. Today is a good day to innovate. Don't over think it, allow your creative juices to flow. #I’d rather be creating
