🔥 Wood fires can be a major cause of home fires, especially during the winter months. According to the National Fire Protection Association, between 2014-2018, there were an estimated 45,900 home structure fires caused by heating equipment each year in the United States, resulting in an annual average of 540 deaths, 1,400 injuries, and $1.4 billion in property damage. Of these heating equipment fires, 25% were caused by fireplaces and chimneys, and 9% were caused by non-confined outdoor fires, such as bonfires or campfires. The majority of these fires occurred in the months of December, January, and February. To prevent wood fire incidents, it is important to take necessary precautions such as scheduling regular chimney cleanings and inspections, using a fireplace screen, and keeping flammable items away from the fireplace. Additionally, never leave a fire unattended, and ensure that the fire is completely extinguished before leaving the area. By being mindful of these statistics and taking necessary precautions, we can prevent wood fire incidents and keep ourselves and our loved ones safe. #firefighter #firefighting #fireforce #technology #safety #iffs #iffsusa

Around 100 fires in homes and buildings in England are started by fireworks every year. With Bonfire night approaching it is vital that we do all we can to stay safe while having fun. We have created a list of top tips and simple things to remember to keep you safe this firework night. 🎆 Only buy CE-marked fireworks, this means they have met all standards set by the European Union for Health, Safety, and Environmental Impact, deeming them as safe. 🪣 Keep buckets of water/ sand nearby in case of an emergency. If you have used an oil-based igniter your fire will be water-resistant, so sand is the perfect extinguisher. 📄 Always follow the instructions on each firework, these could differ and not following them correctly could lead to serious injury. Have fun! #bonfirenight #fireworks #safety #fire #fireworknight

Not everything you hear is true. Being misinformed when it comes to safety in the event of a fire is a position nobody wants to be in. This is why we are going to share common myths about fires. This is a common misconception people have heard over the years. Many believe that as long as they have a smoke alarm in their home they are safe. Although smoke alarms are very useful for detecting fires, they only help you know when to quickly escape the home or extinguish the fire if it’s not too late. On the other hand, a fire sprinkler system is usually enough to extinguish accidental fires. #womeninbusiness #mythmonday #fire #restoration Alejandro Restrepo Alexi Giantomidis Draško Šamara Jennifer Restrepo PuroClean

𝐎𝐃𝐅 𝐁𝐄𝐒𝐓 𝐎𝐅 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒: In a historic fire season for the state, it can sometimes be difficult to see the successes within it, but when we do we like to recognize them. In 2024, due to ODF's aggressive philosophy on initial attack, 93% of fires on ODF-protected land were put out at 10 acres or less. This means that even under the fatigue, stress, and multiple large fires, ODF firefighters showed up everyday and did their best to put small fires out fast in order to reduce resource loss, the cost of the fire and to protect Oregonians.

Scenario: It's October and your log burner is looking more and more inviting to be lit. Keeping your home warm, with a soft glow. BUT, a risk of a flue fire is ever present. Yes, you can take steps to REDUCE the risk of a flue fire, but it's never zero. Steps can include a swept chimney and burning dry mature wood. Having a fire extinguisher that is not only great for early-stage fires, around the rest of the home, but is also a great fix for the chimney, just in case. Once activated and posted in the log burner, there's only one place the vapours can go and that's up, past the source of the fire. While it's working on the flue fire, and you have safely escaped out of the home, call the fire and rescue services to ensure it is safe to reenter. If you do have a flue fire, make sure you have it inspected and any damages rectified before lighting it up again. Stay safe this winter, with a Fire Safety Stick on standby! #firesafetystick #logburner #winter #heating
