The journey begins. No turning back now. Tomorrow morning, I’ll be driving up to the Catskill Mountains, where I’ll hike 7 miles into the wilderness to set up my camp. No tent. No sleeping bag. No luxuries. Just me, the gear I’ve packed, and the skills I’ve built over time. The first day will be all about establishing my base: setting up a shelter, building a bow drill kit, and preparing for the night ahead. I’ll be relying on everything I learned last year during my wilderness survival course in Utah—plus a few safety measures, because this time, I’m on my own. It’s hard not to feel a mix of excitement and nerves. I’ve been preparing for this moment for months, and now, it’s finally here. The challenge is simple: survive and thrive using only what I bring with me and what nature provides. The goal is not just to test my skills but to reconnect with nature and myself, without the distractions of everyday life. No phone calls. No emails. Just the sound of the wind through the trees and the crackle of a fire I start myself. The hardest part? Trusting that I’ve done the work and that my mind and body are ready. I’ve got everything I need—now, it’s time to prove it. #SoloSurvival #IntoTheWild #SurvivalChallenge #NatureAdventure

Fishing in Alaska? It’s All About Adapting to the Conditions! In Alaska, fishing success often hinges on how well you adapt to the environment. Here are some quick tips to keep in mind: • Water Clarity: Clear water? Use natural-colored lures. Murky water? Bright or flashy lures will grab attention. • Weather: Overcast skies? Opt for muted colors. Sunny day? Shine with metallic finishes. • Temperature: Fish tend to be more active in cooler water, so adjust your fishing time to early mornings or late evenings. • River Flow: High, fast-moving water calls for heavier gear to keep your bait where the fish are. ✨ Pro Tip: Always bring a mix of lures and baits so you’re ready for any situation! “I'll leave you with this. There will be times when standing alone feels too hard, too scary, and we'll doubt our ability to make our way through the uncertainty. Someone, somewhere, will say, "Don't do it. You don't have what it takes to survive the wilderness." This is when you reach deep into your wild heart and remind yourself, "I am the wilderness." - Brene Brown It’s easy to romanticize “wilderness” and forget the survivalist element that experiencing the wilderness requires. It’s literally you against nature – everything is at stake. We talk a lot about wilderness, and go figure, wayfinding, at Wayfinder, because we think the experience of being in unknown terrain, where you have to forge a new path and befriend the patterns of nature, is such a powerful metaphor for the company we strive to be. When we prioritize people in our industry, push boundaries, take risks, and fight for what we know is right, we enter the wide open wilderness. We do things differently here because we understand that no practice, no provider, and no business fits in a box and we’re here to help you see that and grow that. We can help you discover your own wilderness, if you will. So, what makes the wilderness survivable, even exhilarating? Resources, teammates, and friends for the long haul.
