"Simultaneous elections are not a matter of priority and it is not a necessity. There are several reasons given by the people who support this idea and in the report submitted by the Ramnath Kovind Committee, which runs into 16,000 pages. But there is no empirical evidence to justify these reasons. I feel that frequent or periodic elections are good for democracy as the elected representatives will feel the need to go back to people and fulfill their needs. Frequent elections allow us to hold the government accountable. If ONOE is enforced, political leaders will not feel compelled." - Shri P.D.T. Achary (former Secretary General, Lok Sabha) We are live. Watch the discussion here: https://lnkd.in/dKTySQ2X.

Keep local elections local - Solution #4: Confirm role of councillors The introduction of political parties in local elections could lead to situations where councillors disregard their legislative duties and only follow the interests of the political parties they represent. Legislative amendments should be made so that it is clear to councillors, once elected, that they are accountable to the whole municipality and the well-being of their community.
