Superb blueprint about delivering much needed, urgent social and affordable housing meanwhile boosting retirement savings Scale and bipartisan support vital to underpin certainty required by global institutional investors and in turn confidence for #CHPs and #nationalhousingaccord Aligning state and Commonwealth incentives will accelerate and again scale investment and supply, which IFM Investors suggests can come from matched contributions and - with what we have long advocated using structured finance methods - pooled / aggregated funding vehicles #programmaticissuance
We have released recommendations that help deliver housing in Australia at scale. Doubling the Australian Government’s Housing Australia Future Fund (HAFF) is the first step to increasing the supply of much-needed social and affordable housing. We believe that aligning State and Commonwealth housing incentives, working with Community Housing Providers and addressing barriers to scaled investment, can be part of the solution for Australia’s housing challenges. Collectively, these recommendations could boost super investment in housing and help deliver appropriate risk-adjusted returns to the retirement savings of millions of Australians. The Albanese Labor government has unveiled a multi-billion-dollar investment strategy, augmenting the comprehensive Homes for Australia plan. This initiative targets a substantial boost in national housing supply, emphasising support for vulnerable groups and infrastructure development. Key allocations include $1 billion for crisis and transitional accommodation, $1 billion for essential infrastructure, and a $9.3 billion National Agreement on Social Housing and Homelessness. Additionally, $90.6 million is designated to expand the construction workforce, offering 20,000 fee-free places, while universities are mandated to increase student accommodation. This investment complements existing pledges, totaling over $25 billion, including initiatives like the Housing Australia Future Fund, Social Housing Accelerator, and Help to Buy scheme. The overarching goal is to construct 1.2 million homes by the decade's end, addressing Australia's pressing housing needs. . . . #IntelligentFinancialSolutions #MortgageBroker #DailyPost #AustralianEconomy #AffordableHousing #HomesForAustralia #InfrastructureInvestment #SocialHousing #ConstructionWorkforce #HousingCrisis #GovernmentInitiatives #Australia2030 Source: https://lnkd.in/gqiX36YG

Will Private Profit Trump Public Good? Homes England's Housing Fund Raises Questions About Priorities Homes England has invested £50 million in a real estate fund managed by Schroders Capital to boost affordable housing and town centre regeneration. This move aims to address the UK housing crisis by leveraging public-private partnerships. Strengths - Addresses the housing crisis by expanding affordable housing. - Leverages private capital from pension funds and insurers. - Focus on sustainability and urban regeneration. Weaknesses - Risk of prioritizing investor profits over social goals. - Scale of investment may not fully meet housing demand. Features and Benefits - Affordable housing expansion – More homes for low-income communities. - Sustainability focus – Environmentally friendly developments. - Public-private collaboration – Mobilizes large-scale private capital. Conclusion This investment is a significant step towards solving the housing crisis, but careful governance is essential to ensure affordability and social benefits remain priorities. 🔔 Follow Damian Ainsley for more news, views and clues 🗨️ Message me for the full 1000+ word critique Full article: https://lnkd.in/dxzsMpFW. #AffordableHousing #SustainableDevelopment #RealEstateInvesting #HousingCrisis #PublicPrivatePartnership
