Shortly, on ITV, a new documentary will air featuring #PrinceWilliam and The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales focusing on how we can end #Homelessness. In the #WestMidlands, right now, nearly 20,000 people are without stable housing. Delve a little deeper and we discover 4,400 young care leavers aged between 16 and 25 at risk as well as nearly 2,500 veterans. Any one of them could be made homeless tonight. Is that a situation we can afford to ignore in the region which prides itself as the national engine of #growth, #prosperity, and #innovation? We have a proposal, we have a strong business case, and we have stakeholder support. We can quickly mobilise as part of the solution; bringing together #housing, #health, #skills and #employment into one 12-month programme. Would you like to join us in this mission as a partner? Please visit www.ignislodge.co.uk to learn more and reach out for a discussion. Together, we can make this mission a reality. #westmidlands #homelessness #birmingham #solihull #blackcountry #coventry #bethechange #brighterfuture #partnership #csr

Yes, ACAs are not ideal. Yes, we want to see an end to children and young people residing in ACAs, but where's the alternate planning? Where are the carers needed to fill the void. Parallel to this decision should be an urgent focus on family connections for children in care, finding appropriate long term stable care options for children, building on support for family and Kinship carers and building the carer pool. Not removing a bandaid solution and leaving agencies with nothing. Will definitely be watching this space! #aca #nswgovernment #childprotection #fostercare #kinshipcare #childrenfirst https://lnkd.in/gNJseAWc

#WhoDefinesSurvival: Intimate Partner Violence survivors can have multiple intersecting needs that impact what safety and stability looks like for them. For example, a survivor’s immigration status and their access to work authorization may impact their comfort in engaging with systems, ability to be independent, and priorities. A survivor who has a child with special needs receiving services and community support for childcare, may decide that fleeing to a shelter in another borough doesn’t work for them. Survivor-centered justice means survivors must be able to define what reclaiming their lives looks like for them, based on their unique circumstances and needs. Our role is to provide and expand the options available to them, so they can choose what is right for them. We need to trust survivors about what will make them safe, what will bring them support, and what justice looks like for them. #domesticviolenceawarenessmonth #domesticviolence #intimatepartnerviolence #survivorcentered #weareNYLAG

Reviewing the history of family separations in the United States reveals a troubling legacy that began during the era of human chattel slavery. The harm resulting from these separations is immeasurable, and the narratives of formerly enslaved people illustrate the devastating impact on families. It's important to acknowledge and learn from this history to ensure a more just and equitable future. #FamilySeparation #USHistory #SocialJustice

To all the amazing military spouses, both active and veteran, I say thank you. Do not let the proximity to Mother's Day fool anyone - both men and women support their families and make sacrifices for our country. You are the most resilient, caring, and proactive community I know. You stand up for injustices that our activity duty spouses cannot, care for each other like you are old friends (even if we just met), and work to make to life for future military spouses easier than you found it. Military spouses have three times the national unemployment rate (https://lnkd.in/e8p2kQBE). There are amazing groups out there working for military spouse licensing reciprocity at both the state and federal levels. Organizations and companies taking deliberate steps to not weed out military spouse resumes and changing policies to keep military spouses employed through moves and increased obligations during deployments. If anyone is inspired to participate, please reach out I have plenty of organizations to suggest! Military Spouse JD Network National Military Family Association Operation Homefront Military Spouse Advocacy Network - to just highlight a few. Frequent moves have real impacts on mental health due to separation from family, increased barriers for stable careers, and the challenges of navigating DoD services. Only recently has substance abuse in the military spouse community started to enter the public discussion and I hope the efforts to address this issue grow (https://lnkd.in/eQ98bcRt). Keep it up Jennifer Barnhill, MPA and Karen Jowers - your reporting is meaningful and impactful! https://lnkd.in/e5gT29wX
