The 100 Year Global Innovation Contest: Securing the Future of Change 🚀 Embracing a Legacy of Innovation: A Testament to Change the World🚀 As I reflect on my journey and the impact I aspire to leave behind, I am thrilled to announce a groundbreaking initiative that will shape the future of innovation for generations to come. Through my will and testament, I have envisioned a world where wealth is not just accumulated, but actively utilized to foster positive change and progress. Upon my demise, the wealth accrued will be dedicated to a global innovation contest that spans a century, ensuring that my legacy transcends time and resonates with innovation enthusiasts worldwide. With billions allocated to these contests every 15 years for the next century, my vision is to catalyze innovation, disrupt industries, and elevate our collective living standards. This initiative is not merely about monetary contributions; it is a testament to my unwavering commitment to leveraging resources for the greater good. By nurturing a platform for innovation, I aim to empower visionaries, disruptors, and changemakers to pioneer solutions that address global challenges and drive sustainable progress. I firmly believe that this approach is the most effective way to ensure that the wealth amassed during my lifetime is channeled towards initiatives that have a lasting, transformative impact on society. It is a strategic and intentional decision to create a perpetual cycle of innovation and progress, where each contest builds upon the successes of its predecessors, ushering in new waves of change and evolution. As I embark on this journey to make a meaningful difference, I invite all those who share my passion for innovation and positive change to join me in this significant endeavor. Last week, I had the chance to be part of the Hamburg Innovation Summit— a cool event where startups, businesses, and innovators come together to push forward new ideas in tech and sustainability. The vibe was great, and it’s good to see how much innovation is happening right here in Hamburg! At our FUTURE CANDY GmbH stand, I took care of our rabbit inc. and Face Detect from Fraunhofer IIS and along the way, I got to chat with loads of interesting people. Big thanks to everyone who stopped by—so many good conversations! 🙌 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝘆 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀: 1️⃣ Women in Innovation & Tech: I was super excited to see so many women in these fields—it’s really inspiring and feels like things are moving in the right direction! 💪👩💻 2️⃣ More Investment in Innovation: It’s clear that more companies are getting serious about innovation, with whole teams, labs, and roles dedicated to it. Definitely the way forward! 💡🚀 3️⃣ Fraunhofer’s Face Detect: Turns out, Face Detect isn’t just a fun gadget at events—it’s actually being used for things like market research and tracking customer behavior in supermarkets. So much potential! 🛒📊 All in all, it was an amazing experience, and I can’t wait for what’s next! Also, huge shoutout to Jasmin Krug for her unique performance—it was nice to see you performing on stage - or in a pink box in that case! 😄🎤 Super excited for what’s to come with FUTURE CANDY GmbH!

How to drive innovation at scale? The past two days I have attended the Innovation Roundtable® summit 2024 in Copenhagen for the first time. I have apparently become known as the one who asks the most questions after the presentations 🤔 curiosity is just in my nature. So many brilliant minds have shared their challenges and opportunities into how we succeed with creating value for people, planet and profit. A few takeaway thoughts - make it simple, complex ideas require simple rules and processes - consider carefully how and when to decentralize initiatives - encourage ideas from your colleagues Next step is the really hard one - scaling a solution in a large organisation require a very different approach and competences than developing it. That is the task for planning tomorrow - freshly loaded with new knowledge

This week, our participants in the Start With Innovation cohort take on the second phase. Last week, they used the Innovation Culture Diamond Assessment to see how they can use their culture dynamics to build the best possible innovative solutions and interventions. Based on the outcomes, this week companies large and small will analyse the results and make decisions where they should focus on. I know many people say culture is fluffy, too complex to handle or even focused on the soft side of the business, but I invite everyone who thinks this to take our Innovation Culture Diamond Assessment to see how concrete and focused results can be if you take the right angle in the culture. For some companies, hackathons work, for some a clear innovation strategy would work, and for some, they need more access to internal collaborative networks. Either way, the company's DNA is the culture. Not convinced? Send me a DM, and you can take on the assessment yourself this week, for free! Start With Innovation Michiel Ykema Mohammed Shujaat Ali Anna Bessant Job Dijkstra Simon Hill Marianna Canino Yahay AlAbdeli Olaf Penne Konstantin Heckmann Peter Jonker Erwin Six Arlette Palacio Paul Cross

It's very interesting to see how different companies assess their performance on different dimensions of innovation (culture)! The assessment points to the area where you have most to gain. And it might not be where you expect. Let me know if you want to see for yourself or if you want to discuss the ways in which Start with Innovation can support your innovation journey.

Innovation and Excellence: Key Takeaways from Emilio Martín’s Talk at Singularity Tech Day I recently had the pleasure of attending Emilio Martín talk from Repsol during Singularity Tech Day, and I’d like to share three pivotal insights that captured the essence of his presentation: Business-Centric Innovation: Emilio highlighted the significance of aligning innovation with business strategy. This approach not only fosters innovation but also ensures that each advancement has a direct and measurable impact on the company’s growth and efficiency. Business Case Approach for Initiatives: The rollout of new initiatives should begin with a robust business case. This means evaluating each innovative project in terms of its feasibility, return on investment, and contribution to the organization’s long-term goals. Center of Excellence Concept: Establishing centers of excellence within the company is crucial for promoting specialization and continuous improvement. These centers serve as incubators for ideas and best practices, raising the standard of excellence across the organization. Emilio Martín’s talk was an inspiration and a reminder that innovation must be intentional, strategic, and above all, business-focused to drive true transformation. #Innovation #BusinessStrategy #CenterOfExcellence #SingularityTechDay #Repsol
