At CES, our commitment to environmental sustainability is exemplified in our projects that balance renewable energy development with biodiversity conservation. The Narina Trogon (Apaloderma narina), often heard but rarely seen, symbolises the equilibrium of our ecosystems. This species, known for its dazzling scarlet belly, thrives in well-preserved forests, reminding us of the vital role biodiversity plays in maintaining healthy ecosystems. Through the utilisation of renewable energy resources such as wind and sunlight, we aim to generate necessary energy without compromising these environments. REDD is the abbreviation for “reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation”, followed by REDD+, with the “plus” referring to “the role of conservation, sustainable management of forests and enhance ment of forest carbon stocks in developing countries”. Greenhouse gas emissions due to deforestation and forest degradation are the second-largest sector source of greenhouse gas emissions behind only the energy sector and ahead of the transport sector. Reducing deforestation would thus significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions; and it would provide important secondary benefits, such as protecting biodiversity and producing rainfall.
