This is an article I wrote about a potential challenge to Louisiana's ability to review and approve Class VI wells, the injection wells used for most carbon capture and sequestration projects in the U.S. It's an important issue--if the challenge is successful, it has the potential to delay a lot of promising carbon capture projects.
Environmental groups challenge the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s decision to grant Louisiana primacy over Class VI wells.

Today the Zimbabwe Environmental Law Association attended the Ministry of Environment, Climate and Wildlife launch of consultations and engagement on the Climate Change Management Bill which seeks to create an enabling legal environment for #Zimbabwe to effectively respond to climate change, build climate resilience, and reduce carbon emissions.
Our Deputy Director Shamiso Mtisi gave a summary of stakeholder's input into the draft climate change Bill, including the need for incentives for industry to do more, rather than being punitive. He also highlighted the need to incorporate the built environment, among other aspects.
On loss and damage, Mtisi said the Bill should provide for compensation to people who are affected by natural disasters such as floods and droughts and added that another priority for stakeholders is the establishment of a Designated National Authority (DNA) carbon credits market. He explained that the DNA must follow a similar structure to other authorities, and this must be set out in the Bill.

This culture of non-compliance with environment targets must end…………we are at a point where the public’s confidence is now significantly lower than our inept Government’s…….!
