A tremendous event celebrating the significant investment into CREATE Program Chicago, the ongoing program to develop a more efficient rail system in the nation's largest and most important rail hub. With this $290 million announcement, leveraged with state funding from Rebuild Illinois as well as support from our railroads, the largest project to date under CREATE will be accelerated. The members of #ILRail are proud to partner with all involved as we continue to ensure Illinois remains the freight rail hub of our continent!
Today, members of the BRC gathered at the CSX Forest Hill Railyard to celebrate the CREATE Program’s most significant federal funding award to date. This funding will initiate the replacement of Belt Junction, ultimately reducing congestion and strengthening both freight and passenger transportation networks. Keynote speakers, including Toni Preckwinkle- County Board President, Jesus “Chuy” Garcia- U.S. Congressman, Dick Durbin- Senator, JB Pritzker-Governor, Mike Quigley- U.S. Congressman, highlighted the importance of this milestone and its impact on the future of rail infrastructure. We’re excited to support this project through its many phases and proud to play a role in something so monumental.
