This is a topic that has been on my mind for a few years now and left me wanting to open a discussion on pain management among professional athletes. The list of athletes who have become addicted to pain medication is a ever growing list, and those are just the ones who are documented. In the day and age of the legalization of cannabis, why has there not been more discussion on the use of cannabinoids for pain management instead of opioids? Why has pro sports demonized the use of cannabis while openly allowing the use of dangerous drugs such as cannabinoids and Toradol? https://lnkd.in/gCqYZkMk

Attention athletes and sports professionals! As of 01/01/2022, local steroid injections into joints are now prohibited during competition. However, athletes can still apply for therapeutic use of exception when the last dose is administered within seven days of competition via oral, IV, or rectal routine. Additionally, when administered by intramuscular injection, athletes can apply for therapeutic use of exception within eight weeks of competition. It's important to note that athletes requiring intraarticular injection of a steroid are only required to apply for therapeutic use of exception when there is doping control in competition or they are required to complete an adverse analytical finding from when glucocorticoid is detected. Stay informed and stay on top of your game. For more information, check out the references below. References: - Sportintegrity.gov.au. (2020). I am thrilled to see our research spotlighted at the Isokinetics Conference in Madrid 🇪🇸! A heartfelt thank you to Mario Bizzini for for the recognition. Although I couldn't attend in person, it’s gratifying to see our work making a tangible impact in sports medicine. Our study on the FIFA 11+ Shoulder Injury Prevention Program demonstrated more than a 50% reduction in upper extremity injuries among soccer goalkeepers. With the participation of 726 goalkeepers over one season, we showed that strategic, well-structured warm-ups significantly enhance athlete safety and performance. These findings highlight the importance of innovative and collaborative approaches in advancing sports medicine. It’s about working smart and leveraging evidence-based practices for optimal outcomes. I am profoundly grateful to my co-authors, participants, and everyone who contributed to this project. Your dedication has been the cornerstone of our success. Special thanks to the Isokinetics Conference organizers for providing a platform to share and discuss groundbreaking research. Together, we can achieve remarkable advancements. #Isokinetics2024 #SportsMedicine #ResearchImpact #FIFA11Plus #InjuryPrevention

Thrilled to Participate! I recently had the opportunity to contribute a review article on the topic "Role of Pharmacist to Prevent Doping in Sport" for a competition organized by MusculaRx (Sports Pharmacy) . In this article, I explored the vital role pharmacists play in ensuring athletes' health and integrity in sports by: •Educating athletes about the risks of doping. •Monitoring medication use to prevent unintentional doping violations. •Collaborating with medical teams to ensure compliance with anti-doping regulations. This competition allowed me to delve deeper into the intersection of pharmacy and sports, highlighting the importance of pharmacists in maintaining a level playing field and safeguarding athletes’ careers. #DopingPrevention #PharmacistRole #MusculaRX #Competition #PharmacyStudent
