Does shooting for birdie, ruin your chance of par? And can we take lessons from the course into our businesses? As part of our golf management services we work with our partner RetailTribe to provide personalised academy newsletters for our venues. I love how often the golf advice that drops into members inboxes works for businesses as well! This week one of our coach newsletters focussed on breaking 100. It reflected that if your target is 99, then the best chance you have of reaching it is to focus on scoring 9 bogeys and 9 doubles. It got me thinking about targets in business, particularly when we’re helping clubs implement change. And the importance of a realistic target with changes that feel manageable. If we go into a venue telling coaches and club colleagues every change they need to slash attrition and massively increase spend, they can easily get overwhelmed by the challenge, miss the target and lose faith in the process. But if we give them three significant, but achievable changes. Even if it’s simply in their approach to the task. Then their misses become smaller Their successes become more frequent. And before you know it, we have them ready to start the process of breaking 90 – if you’ll excuse the mixing of my metaphors! I know as golfers, and business people, we all want to make pars and birdies. And we all know that on our day, we can. But if you take a wider view, that incorporates your bad days as well as your best days, I think you stand a much better chance, and will take a much more sustainable route, to whatever success looks like for you. #golfbusiness #targets

🎯 When Golf Meets Big Goals ⛳ What happens when you find yourself on the golf course with the person selling you a care home and the one financing it? 🤔 Simple: you bring your A-game, both on and off the greens! 🏌️♂️💼 Last week, I played my second-best round ever—a satisfying 9 over par—while attending an incredible event hosted by the amazing team at Fore Business Nottingham. Big thanks to Ian McKellar and Paul Dermody for yet another stellar day of networking and swings! 👏 But here’s the kicker: this wasn’t just about golf—it was about one of my *big hairy audacious goals*: getting this care home deal across the finish line. 🏠💪 It’s nerve-wracking. It’s outside my comfort zone. But like Sir Richard Branson says: “Say yes, and figure it out later.” Now, here’s the invite: If you love golf and are ready to grow your business, come join me at the West Bromwich FORE Business group! Your first round is on me. 🥓☕ Plus, you’ll walk away with more than just lost golf balls—think new connections and maybe even some valuable referrals. DM me for a Golden Ticket to our next meeting (held every third Tuesday of the month). You’ve got nothing to lose but a few swings. 😉 #GolfNetworking #BigGoals #BusinessAndBirdies #ForeBusiness #GuiltFreeGolf #NetworkingDoneRight

We'll be sure to choose a sunnier day 🌞 Put a course suggestion in the comments! #OutOfOffice #OutdoorMeetings #ClientMeetings

This is so true! So many pickleball entrepreneurs are embarking on their very first journey into small business. Often, they believe their experience in marketing, or real estate, or _________ white collar industry is directly transferable to opening a club. And it is…when they happen to be working on marketing, real estate, or __________ white collar skill set. I see this so often when club owners go to market for insurance and they search for the cheapest thing they can find. That’s very unwise. You don’t buy insurance so you can brag about how cheap it is. You buy insurance because it’s the only thing standing in between you and bankruptcy when there’s a lawsuit or disaster. And the “cheap” policies I’ve see out there so far? They’re awful. They’re just begging to put folks out of business. Insurance doesn’t have to be expensive, but it’s a complex product that hardly any purchaser understands—which is why the partner you choose to procure and explain it to you makes a critical—often business saving—difference.
We have this conversation a lot with clients, friends, and fellow business owners at networking events..."I wish I'd known how to be a business owner before actually starting the business". In the fast-paced world of pickleball, we are here to be your competitive edge before you start the business, during the launch of the business, and to get you to the finish line with your new business. Our goal: help you start strong on day 1 and keep you strong on day 1000. Ready? Let's book a Discover call and chat about your goals. www.twistedpickle.world info@twistedpickle.world #twistedpickle #pickleball #teamtwisted #businessconsulting #businessownercoaching

Connection is my passion. 💝 To inspire connection is my purpose. 🧠 Helping others connect intentionally is my goal. 🎖 I am very proud to share this small sampling of the different businesses that will be present in some way on Monday, October 7th, 2024 at the Crusaders Caerusnet Annual Golf & Non-Golf Event. And we still have almost three months to go! I am excited to be a part of this business matchmaking event, with more than one attendance option. Including a traditional golf outing. But what if you don't golf? We got you! There is a non-golf professional development afternoon with multiple speakers being planned as well. But what if you have to work that day? We got you! There is a happy hour and dinner only option for later in the day. My favorite part of the behind the scenes planning? Getting to encourage connection by offering all attendees three suggestions of others there, that day, they should have a conversation with. Strategic introductions to grow network and business. 😍 Helping people meet others who will be the start of their next success story is, frankly put, my drug of choice. And I can not wait to hear the stories of what good things started on this day! #golfouting #networking #network #professionaldevelopment#connection #intentionalconnection #businessbuilding #matchmaker #golf #inspireconnection

The Bloomberg article discusses how pickleball is increasingly becoming a new platform for corporate America to conduct business deals, competing with traditional activities like golf. Its accessibility, social nature, and widespread appeal make it an ideal environment for executives to network, entertain clients, and form partnerships. Pickleball’s fast-growing popularity, especially in corporate settings, has drawn attention as a fresh, informal way for companies to engage in relationship-building. The article explores how pickleball is emerging as a serious rival to golf for corporate dealmaking. Executives and business leaders are increasingly choosing pickleball for networking, client entertainment, and informal business conversations. Its rapid rise in popularity, lower barrier to entry, and social nature make it a perfect fit for team-building and corporate bonding. The sport offers an alternative to golf, providing similar opportunities for relationship-building but in a more accessible and fast-paced environment, attracting companies seeking innovative ways to engage with clients and partners. https://lnkd.in/eGriUtPc
