Fighting for consumer attention is never more prevalent than in the drinks aisle of any supermarket. Honoured to share my insights on this with Scottish License Trade News and how MadeBrave is helping Four Loko craft an epic (and brave!) brand story to get the attention they deserve 💥 We’ve all heard “Don’t just talk about your product” or “Sell the experience, not the product” but so many brands still get this wrong because focusing on the product alone feels safe. The best brands go beyond product focus and stand out through deeply understanding their customers and what resonates with them on a personal level, then creating an experience around that. It’s not an easy thing to do, else everyone would do it! Will leave the article link below, worth a read if you’re in the drinks or FMCG space 👇🏻

What drives a business, often without us realizing? Strategic partnerships. Different partnerships serve different stages of business growth. Whether you call it Wednesday Wisdom or something else, I’m excited to share my recent feature on ET World Hospitality, where I discuss how strategic partnerships can shape growth and foster innovation in the beverage industry. I dive into key questions like: * What synergies can be achieved from this partnership? * Do the values align for all parties involved? * Are there existing resources or networks that can enhance the partnership? Drawing from my own journey with Utopian Drinks, I’ve shared insights that have worked for us. I'd love for you to give it a read and share your thoughts! Article link in the comment.

Starting a new CPG Brand is hard, and feels like you're reinventing the wheel every time. I'm thinking of creating a beginners guide for launching a food or beverage brand. Would that be helpful? It would be a collection of the basics around retail, distribution, channel strategy, co-manufacturing, and finance/fundraising. Do you think something like this is needed? What other topics would you add? I'm also looking for CPG founders to share their stories. Would you be interested? Oh, and it would be completely free. #CPG #foodandbeverage

Here is another great article by Ian Navarro sharing the realities of foodservice distribution sales practices…great for new reps and a reminder for long time reps and sales managers!
Foodservice Distribution is all I’ve known. Walking warehouses and back alleys looking to connect chefs with top brands to feature in their concept. Here are a few things I’ve noticed along the way. 1. There is no perfect distribution company. Logistics are tough and certainly in the perishable space. How you react to problems will set you apart. 2. Read the room. When visiting a prospective or long lasting customer, know when to leave. Don’t overstay your welcome. 3. Make it a goal when cold calling to not take things personally. You are going to be told no, realize that and shift your mindset. 4. Find a way to create a connection point with who you are talking to. This means either doing your research in advance, asking questions and looking at your surroundings to bring something up. 5. If you win on price alone, you will lose on price alone. Not always the best relationship. 6. Find something in your warehouse to learn about all the time. You’ll bring more value to your team and customers by educating yourself. 7. Take the ride along. You’ll end up meeting long term friends and be able to expand your network nationally and even globally. 8. Cheers on those around you. Celebrate victories. 9. Work the room. From the dishwasher to the GM, all of those people will likely grow in their career and they remember things. 10. Saying you can’t do something is okay. It can be less stressful for you and set you up for long term success at times if the answer is turning something down. If you are navigating your way across foodservice distribution, hopefully these words help validate or bring opportunities or your thoughts in the business.

What’s Your Definition of Success? As someone who’s passionate about #exports and building relationships, I’ve often reflected on how I define success at #Senso Foods as an #exportmanager. For me, it’s not just about entering new markets or increasing market share. It’s about the number of customers who choose to repurchase our #tea and #coffee #premixes. Their trust and loyalty tell me that we’re doing something right. When customers keep coming back, it speaks volumes about our product’s quality and our ability to meet their needs. Repeat business, to me, is the ultimate sign of brand loyalty and long-term growth. I’m curious—how do you define #success in your role? Would love to hear your thoughts!
