NASA FAQs on Hubble and its operational future: ‘How long is Hubble expected to remain operational? When Hubble launched in 1990, it was expected to have a lifespan of about 15 years. Largely because of five successful astronaut servicing missions to the telescope, Hubble’s technology was upgraded and improved, and the telescope remains scientifically productive to this day. All indications are that the telescope will continue operating into the late 2020s and possibly beyond. What will happen to Hubble when the telescope is no longer operational? Will it return to Earth? Hubble is not expected to re-enter Earth's atmosphere until the mid to late 2030s at the earliest’ #hubble #nasa

Imagery and Remote Sensing hold a ton of potential in the world of environmental resources management, and given the challenges we face as #environmentalprofessionals, we need all the help we can get to accelerate and streamline the work we do. But imagery and remote sensing can be overwhelming... there's a lot of data out there, each with its own kinds of limitations and complexities, so getting started can be tough and intimidating. If that resonates with you, then this will be a great webinar to join tomorrow! Thanks to our partners at Natural Areas Association and in collaboration with NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration, we are providing this webinar for FREE! It's TOMORROW, and there's still time to sign up, so hurry! (and share!) https://lnkd.in/dGGjk469

NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration's EMIT (Earth Surface Mineral Dust Source Investigation) mission produces hyperspectral imagery needed to advance sustainable decision-making. From #methane plumes, #wildfires, surface minerals, dust storms, acid mine drainage, and more, the data produced by this mission enables us to map and assess the implications of human practices on our changing planet. These data will advance our understanding of earth systems, and the influence of human activities on our #planetaryboundaries, which are foundational to science-based #sustainable decision-making. Hubble Space Telescope Helps Investigate the Mystery of Mars’ Escaping Water FriendsofNASA.org: Mars was once a very wet planet. Scientists know that over the last 3 billion years, part of the water went underground, but what happened to the rest? Now, NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope and the Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution (MAVEN) Mission are helping to unlock that mystery. To understand how much water there was and what happened to it, scientists need to understand how the atoms escape into space. A team combined data from Hubble and MAVEN to measure the current rate of these atoms escaping into space. This information allowed them to extrapolate the escape rate backwards through time to understand the history of water on the Red Planet. Last week, GENEDGE was honored to co-host an Advanced Manufacturing Workshop at the NASA Langley Research Center! Manufacturing companies from around the East Coast came together to network and plan projects for future collaboration and research with the team at NASA Langley. The two-day event included lots of exciting presentations about NASA Langley's resources, capabilities, and facilities. Attendees were treated to tours of exciting new technologies as well, including: 🌔Lunar tower structures that can be assembled robotically in space 🪐An inflatable structure that takes the drag and heat of atmospheric re-entry called HIAD. This technology is helping to enable humans to Mars transportation! 🌎Non-destructive x-ray scanning technology that can assess equipment damages and failures after flight 🌟ISAAC, a powerful robot that will help build stronger structures in space 🚀Inflatable habitats for astronauts during long-term space travel And more! The GENEDGE team is so grateful to NASA for helping us host this exciting event. We can't wait to see what we can create together, and how we can change the future of manufacturing in America! #NASA #NASAResearch #SpaceTravel #Manufacturing #AdvancedManufacturing #EmergingTechnologies
