Communication is largely visual What do you think the story behind the below chart is? Without seeing the title of the chart, it’s clear it relates to medicine from the images of medics, and as it’s an upward sloping chart it may be positive news. In fact, it’s the length of NHS waiting lists. If I were to build this graphic I’d start with: 1. A downward trend eg % of nhs operations performed without target periods 2. Images of people needing medical help eg people on crutches What’s your favourite election campaign graphic so far?

One of the topics we covered in our discussion was the devolution of specialised commissioning and the strategic shift to integrated commissioning of these services. Thoughts below: 🔍 Key Insights for Market Access Professionals: - NHS England is transitioning towards integrated commissioning, aiming to enhance patient care by aligning specialised and non-specialised services. - The recent update indicates a move to delegate commissioning responsibility for 59 specialised services to Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) in specific regions, with a full delegation planned for April 2025. - This strategic shift reflects a commitment to consistent national standards and service specifications, despite the change in commissioning dynamics. 💡 What This Means for Regional Market Access: - Market access strategies must adapt to the evolving landscape, considering the increased role of ICBs in service commissioning. - Engagement with ICBs will become crucial, as they will have greater leadership in service delivery, particularly in the East of England, Midlands, and North West regions. - Understanding the nuances of delegated services and their impact on patient pathways will be key to successful market access planning. 📈 Implications for Life Sciences Industry: - The life sciences sector should anticipate changes in funding flows and decision-making processes due to this commissioning model transformation. - Companies must stay abreast of NHS England's national standards to ensure alignment with service specifications. - Collaboration with regional stakeholders will be vital to navigate this new integrated commissioning framework effectively. #NHS #MarketAccess #LifeSciences #HealthcareInnovation #SpecComms
Arlene Neville, Jonathan Simpson and Stephen Jowett sit down to discuss the changes to the NHS in 2024, specifically the devolution of the specialised commissioning budget and the impact this has on ICSs, ICBs and Life sciences. Watch the full conversation here: https://bit.ly/4beltgT
