I saw this quote a few weeks ago and it resonated with me 💭 I love supporting new doctors every year whether it be during their F3 or a speciality doctor taking time out of their training pathway to pursue other goals like exams, additional experience, raising a family etc. However, I’ll continue to strive to build those long-lasting relationships that span through a doctor's career. Some of the most rewarding work I do is working with a doctor from SHO and supporting them on their journey to become a consultant. This could look like locum consultant jobs or the CESR routes but seeing them fulfil their career goals whilst complementing their personal life, is a joy! What do you think about this quote? Have you worked with the same client or candidate for 10 years? #ClientRetention #CareerGoals #DoctorJourney #SupportingDoctors #LocumWork

To my fellow new doctors who have recently completed residency and/or fellowship training. Read this post before you sign a long-term contract. My top 4 reasons why new doctors DO NOT consider becoming a travel doctor. Including my rebuttals to each. 1. Your lack of professional experience. 🤔Any moonlighting that you have done as a senior resident or fellow will count towards professional experience. 2. Not having a “practice home”. 🤔You will have more time to wisely choose your practice home. 3. Lack of benefits package associated with long term employment agreements. 🤔You can negotiate the difference in your pay rate as a travel doctor. You can also design your own benefits package that will follow you for your entire career regardless of job or employer. 4. Lack of experience as an independent contractor/1099 contractor. 🤔Any accountant can organize this for you for a small fee. 📢Travel Doctor Pro-Tip📢 If you do not have any work experience, identify three colleagues from your residency/fellowship program who are willing to provide a professional reference for you. One of these colleagues should be a supervising attending. 📚Resources 💡Sol MD Travel Doctor You Tube Channel https://lnkd.in/eXF6xDC9 💡Click here for a FREE partial list of locum tenens companies and their website links. https://lnkd.in/eMbs8Z6K 💡My 9-page Travel Doctor Resource Guide. https://lnkd.in/enJ_cc8a 💡Visit www.SolMDTravel.com for more information. #traveldoctor #locumtenens #careerautonomy #careertransitions #worklessearnmore

To all IMG Consultants working within the NHS: You are in a unique position to make a difference for your fellow IMG junior doctors who are navigating the challenging path toward NHS roles. I kindly request you to support these junior doctors by helping them secure clinical attachments in your respective trusts. Additionally, if possible, please consider discussing with your trust’s board directors the possibility of making these attachments free or more budget-friendly to ease the financial burden. With the current job market becoming increasingly saturated, providing accessible clinical attachment opportunities could be a game-changer, especially for PLAB aspirants. It’s a small step that can have a big impact, helping them gain valuable NHS experience, build confidence, and strengthen their journey toward a successful career in the UK. Together, we can create a more supportive environment for IMGs striving to make their mark in the NHS. #IMGSupport #NHSConsultants #ClinicalAttachment #PLABAspirants #NHSOpportunities #Mentorship #HealthcareCommunity

Navigating NHS Experience Requirements: A Reflection As an aspiring doctor working towards building a career in the NHS, I find myself facing a recurring challenge that I’m sure many international medical graduates can relate to. In nearly every job post for a Junior Clinical Fellow, there’s a requirement for six months of NHS experience—and attachments are often not considered part of that. While I understand the need for candidates to be familiar with NHS systems, it raises a pressing question: How are we expected to gain this experience without being given the opportunity to work within the NHS? Like many others, I have invested time in clinical attachments, prepared rigorously for exams, gained a solid understanding of NHS protocols, and demonstrated my commitment to patient care in various roles. Yet, without a formal NHS position, it feels like there’s an ever-present barrier to entry. I’m hopeful that more pathways can be created for doctors like myself, who are eager to contribute and gain the necessary experience to further develop our skills and serve the community. For those in similar situations, let’s continue supporting one another as we navigate these challenges together. #NHS #IMGs #MedicalCareers #Opportunities #HealthcareProfessionals #CareerGrowth #MedicalCommunity
