I am extremely happy to announce that our new article "Immunostimulatory effects of isomalto/malto-polysaccharides via TLR2 and TLR4 in preventing doxycycline-induced cytokine loss" has been published in #CarbohydratePolymers (IF 10.7). This study reveals how isomalto/malto-polysaccharides (IMMPs)—prebiotic α-glucans commonly used as food ingredients—go beyond their dietary benefits to exert direct immunostimulatory effects by engaging TLR2 and TLR4. We found that: ✅ IMMPs activate TLR2 and TLR4, leading to a significant increase in NF-κB signaling. ✅ Enhanced cytokine production, including IL-8, TNFα, and IL1-RA, in immune cells. ✅ IMMPs help mitigate the immune-attenuating effects of doxycycline, an antibiotic that can paradoxically impair immune function. ✅ Molecular docking analysis supports IMMPs' direct interaction with TLRs, highlighting their therapeutic potential.
