Can SP and Congress together challenge BJP in 2024? Well this is a question one will find on the front page of all the newspapers. But in order to understand it it is also necessary to look at the mistakes of 2019. The Congress won three Hindi speaking states in the December 2018 assembly polls but after four months it was reduced to five seats out of 220-odd seats across the Hindi belt in parliamentary polls. It lost 62 out of 65 Lok Sabha seats in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. It got one seat each from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand. Sonia Gandhi was able to win from U.P. with the help of the SP. Now that she is electing for Rajya Sabha due to poor health there is no clear side to who will get the ticket from that constituency. Ultimately, it is too early to say whether the SP-Congress alliance will be successful in challenging the BJP in 2024. This is what the Party should focus on: Address key issues: Focus on issues relevant to the electorate, such as education, healthcare, job creation, and rural development. Strong ground game: Mobilize their voter base, especially in key constituencies.
