🌾The innovative model of regenerative agriculture is like an "life-long job" for all mankind to cope with climate change. However, the FAIRR report shows that only 36% of the 59 enterprises mentioning regenerative agriculture have set quantitative targets. In the green table that feeds human agricultural civilization, will regenerative agriculture be a “set meal” for sustainable agricultural development or a greenwashing “fast food” with expensive price tags? 🍽️What are the new theories and paradigms of regenerative agriculture at home and abroad in the fields of soil health, no-tillage and precision irrigation? 🍚What are the practical breakthroughs in regenerative agriculture by food companies that can lead to more cutting-edge practices in regenerative agriculture in China? 📌If you would like to share and discuss this topic at the conference, register to visit at <https://lnkd.in/gxAPp9YZ> . 🟦The 3rd Impact Climate Innovation Conference 🗓23-25 October 2024 📍YATTER International Convention Center, Haikou, China #regenerative agriculture #ICIC2024 #China

I am honoured to co-author this chapter about 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 in the book “Digital Sustainability: Leveraging Digital Technology to Combat Climate Change" with Marilena Gemtou, PhD and Evangelos Anastasiou This chapter discusses how smart farming technologies are being used to optimise and transform agricultural practices and food systems to make them more sustainable and resilient to the climate change and food security crisis. It further elaborates on how the adoption of these technologies comes with various barriers and drivers which hinder or aid farmers in their transition to digital agriculture. It discusses some of AEIDL (European Association for Innovation in Local Development)'s work on BEATLES project EU analysing the European policy framework to support and monitor digitisation in agriculture and the food systems as well as the international visions of future food systems based on digital technology as espoused by international agencies such as the United Nations, FAO. 🌱 Faced with climate change, food security challenges, and soil degradation, modern agriculture is turning to sustainable solutions that enhance productivity while protecting the environment. Plant Growth-Promoting Microorganisms (PGPMs), found in roots and soils, offer a natural alternative to chemical fertilizers. Supported by the EU’s “Farm to Fork” initiative, these biotechnologies aim to boost crop yields and reduce environmental impact. ✅ The Tribiome project, led by ITENE, has identified highly effective microorganisms to improve wheat growth and cut chemical inputs. By integrating circular economy principles, it transforms crop residues into resources, opening the way for a more sustainable and resilient agricultural future. ↪️ More info in this article: https://lnkd.in/epnAkqtQ #Tribiome #Wheat #Wheatgrowth #Microbiome #Climatechange #SustainableAgriculture #Resilientagriculture Wagralim | ITENE | University of Bologna (Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna) | ICCRAM University of Burgos | University of Pretoria | AVA-ASAJA (Associació Valenciana d'Agricultors)) | ValGenetics | SIMAVI Software Imagination & Vision | Rete Semi Rurali ETS | Natural Resources Institute Finland / Luonnonvarakeskus / | Particula Group | Grupo Fertiberia @Agence exécutive européenne pour la recherche (REA) | @L’UE_ENV | @EUAgri | @HorizonEU

#My_2024_LinkedIn_Rewind, by Coauthor.studio: #2024: The year lab discoveries transformed into real hope for East African agriculture! This year wasn't just about research—it was about reimagining how scientific innovation can solve critical challenges facing farmers across our region. At the intersection of Microbial biotechnology, sustainable agriculture, and entrepreneurship, we've been turning complex problems into practical solutions. Our journey with Triasper biofungicide and biofertilizers exemplifies this transformation. What started as a microbial research project is now a tangible tool helping coffee farmers combat devastating crop diseases and reduce soil acidity. We're not just developing a product; we're protecting livelihoods and ecosystems. #Keymilestones that defined our path: Selected to the Working Group on Green Bioeconomy by the Bioeconomy Coalition of Africa, positioning us to drive continental sustainable solutions. https://lnkd.in/e4GYG8JS Showcased Ethiopian agricultural innovation at the Global Bioeconomy Summit, proving that breakthrough solutions can emerge from our local context. https://lnkd.in/eBb-aJgF Completed advanced biopesticide development training at icipe, deepening our expertise in turning scientific discoveries into market-ready solutions. https://lnkd.in/e5uVJBdv The magic happens when we see beyond the laboratory—when research becomes a lifeline for farmers, when innovation protects biodiversity, when science speaks the language of sustainable development. Looking ahead to #2025, our mission remains clear: continue scaling #microbebasedproducts impact, advocate for sustainable agricultural practices, and demonstrate how African researchers can lead global solutions. To our partners, collaborators, and the incredible farming communities we serve: thank you for believing in the power of science to create meaningful change. #GreenBioeconomy #SustainableAgriculture #AfricaBioeconomy #LinkedInRewind #Coauthor #2024wrapped

MATS H2020 project: 🥛 Sustainability Challenges in Dairy Production 🥛 Our recent Causal Loop Diagram analysis of dairy production in Finland has unveiled significant constraints and opportunities for enhancing sustainability. Highlights include: - Production Constraints: The number of dairy animals has plateaued due to land availability and regulatory pressures on manure and GHG emissions. - Balancing Feedback Loops: While production aligns with local demand, low profitability limits potential growth for small and medium farms, and employment. - Policy Implications: Adjusting subsidy frameworks to support sustainable practices could improve profitability while meeting environmental goals. This analysis underscores the need for holistic policy approaches that balance economic viability with environmental sustainability in dairy farming.
