In my latest piece for Halal Reporters with support from ImpactHouse Centre for Development Communication, I analysed how lack of an education sector plan is responsible for the high rate of out-of-school children in Gombe state and why the government must act now. According to data from the state ministry of education, 624,416 children are out of school, with approximately 300,000 of them being girls. The glaring challenges facing the education sector are the consequences of operating without a State Education Sector Plan (SESP) or Education Sector Plan (ESP), let alone a gender-responsive ESP.
