National Police Week is a time to recognize their bravery, commitment, and the sacrifices they and their families make every day. 🔵 Why It's Important: • Appreciation and Gratitude: Law enforcement officers often face dangerous and challenging situations. This week is an opportunity for us to express our heartfelt thanks and show our support. • Community Connection: Building a strong relationship between the police force and the community fosters trust and collaboration. Celebrating National Police Week helps bridge gaps and strengthens these vital connections. • Remembering the Fallen: We honor the memory of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Their courage and dedication will never be forgotten. 🔵 Ways to Celebrate: • Thank an Officer: A simple "thank you" can go a long way. If you see a police officer, let them know you appreciate their service. • Participate in Events: Many communities host events such as memorial services, parades, and educational activities. Get involved and show your support. • Support Police Initiatives: Consider donating to organizations that support law enforcement officers and their families, or participate in community programs aimed at improving safety and cooperation. Today is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and the beginning of 16 days of activism. The RSPCA NSW domestic violence program literally and figuratively holds these beloved pets in their arms whilst women are fleeing violence. If you have ever considered this horrific issue and not known what to do to help, consider supporting one of the many not for profits operating in this space. You can donate money of course, but also consider volunteering, donating gifts of vouchers or goods at your local shelter, or increase awareness by participating in corporate support days. There are so many opportunities to advocate for women and children experience domestic and family violence. https://lnkd.in/gUGQaY2r

Dear Family and Friends, Today I conduct my annual fund raiser for Council for Unity in celebration of a 50-year mission that promotes unity, safety and achievement in schools and communities. Given the divisions in our society today, the Council has never been more critical or more necessary. As a people, our future is defined by the Latin imprint on the coin: ''E Pluribus Unum,'' Out of Many, One. A house divided against itself cannot stand, and we must invest in those entities to make sure Unity is not a dream, but a reality. We are one of those entities. An investment in us is an investment in America's future. Our program brings together all cultures, genders, persuasions and races to ensure safety and freedom from discrimination in the schools we serve. Our success is based on a very simple strategy: Bring everyone together and there is no one left to fight. Bring everyone together and there is no one left to make fun of. Our unique curriculum teaches character development and the values of tolerance, the promotion of a common good and service to the community. This is not a political platform. It goes to the core of the American Dream regardless of your political persuasion. I pray you will support us to create a future where we are defined not by what divides but by what unites us in common cause. If you embrace these ideals and have family and friends who are looking for a similar hope in the future, you can contribute by clicking the DONATE button on our web site at: www.councilforunity.org. And as an incentive and to get a glimpse of what our future must be, click on the video of our elementary school children from PS 177 singing our anthem ''Unity.'' It captures the promise of all I've stated here. Council For Unity is a Registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Donations are tax deductible.

Sexual abuse of a minor is the leading cause of litigation against churches. But houses of worship are not the only organizations experiencing lawsuits. Sports leagues and other youth-oriented nonprofits have come under fire. The challenge is that sexual abusers don't stand out in a crowd, making the threat almost invisible. This doesn't mean the threat can't be countered, it just means it must be approached with other tactics. In this article, we introduce foundational actions to stop the threat. #churchleadership #nonprofitleadership #sexualabuse #sexualabuseprevention

Vote these people out of office Restorative Justice and Alternative Sentencing is Non-Existent in Illinois I have attempted to engage Judge Tommy Brewer, Markham Courthouse Presiding Judge and Illinois Cook County State's Attorney Michael Knight, Supervisor Markham Courthouse. It has come to me to stop communicating with these individuals due to their lack of response. The lack of communication is not surprising to me. I understand the judicial system and the state's attorney's office in Illinois does not really relate to Restorative Justice and Alternative Sentencing, especially start-up organizations. I believe they are used to working with the larger organizations, and have no desire to work with start-up organizations. In addition, Restorative Justice and Alternative Sentencing has a negative result for job security. Illinois 2nd Congressional District I have an Esports Gaming and Trauma Informed Mentoring program teaching lifelong employable technology skills, which is a FREE Violence Prevention program. I have a copyright Trauma and Mentoring curriculum tied to it. My Violence Prevention program is funded by the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority (ICJIA) R3 project. This is a FREE program for participants. My staff and I have distributed our flyers, postcards, and brochures throughout the 2nd Congressional District. I have engaged radio and other technical mediums promoting this FREE program. What are the politicians and community leaders doing or contributing to Violence Prevention? Nothing!! I have the data to backup my story. To some, it is job security. Think about it. When I worked at Sheridan Correctional Center in 2006-2008 an old white gentleman told me this story. He said he was telling me this story because he heard from the guards that I was teaching inmates how to stay out of jail. The white gentleman sat and had lunch with me and said Illinois legislators came to Sheridan Illinois and told residents if they stop growing wheat, beans, and other foods and let them build a prison on their land their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren would have jobs forever. The Illinois legislators told them their prison would become a big industry. The landowners of Sheridan asked for proof. The Illinois legislators told them the data taken from 3rd graders in the Chicago Public School system suggests how many of them would go to prison. So the Illinois plan was to create criminals for their prison system in Illinois. This is a true story. This theory is operational in our Illinois judicial system and in our local police departments. Check out my website. I have a plan to combat this nonsense. Violence Prevention!! www.clickservices.org

🎯🎯🎯 "The true reality of police officers: There are police officers that should have never been hired. They made it through the background checks, the psych evaluation, the polygraph, the physical tests, written tests, that are truly a disgrace to the badge. There are police officers that are amazing and are exactly what the public wants, but they make a mistake and end up on the news. There are police officers that are lazy and do the bare minimum. There are police officers that work very hard and proactively seek out the criminal element hoping to make the community safer. There are police officers who are tall, short, white, black, gay, straight, liberal, conservative, came from wealth, came from poverty, all walks of life, advantages and disadvantages. In the end, they’re human. Doing the best they can, in a job, most of their critics couldn’t do. We all want the same things. If you want to focus on the negative, you will find it and can easily convince yourself it’s the norm, the majority, the rule, not the exception. I’m here to tell you, when it comes to police officers, the “norm” would make you proud. If you knew the countless positive, selfless, heroic, caring, actions they commit daily, you’d be proud. The reality is, they’re just like you. Human, doing the best they can. Hoping to make their family proud and keep the people they serve safe and proud as well. If you don’t believe me, that’s fine." Did you know? According to Prison Policy, in the United States, Native people are vastly overrepresented in the criminal legal system, with an incarceration rate of 763 per 100,000 people. This staggering disparity reflects deep-rooted systemic issues and demands urgent reform. It's time to amplify Indigenous voices, advocate for justice, and push for policies that address these inequities. Source: https://lnkd.in/g9s8fa2u #statistics #prisonpolicy #nonprofit

This is the current state of affairs in the far too often inaptly named UK family ‘justice’ system. A system which is not fit for purpose in cases of domestic abuse. A system which is unaffordable for the normal working people who need it the most, due to eye-watering and unjustifiable hourly rates for lawyers. These cases require attention to detail as a minimum, and that takes time - and today’s lawyers are just too expensive to be involved. I see constantly see posts and legal firm’s websites targeting ‘high net worth’ and ‘ultra high net worth’ individuals, so hopefully they do ok by their legal teams if they are victims of #domesticabuse. But what about the people who are too well off for legal aid, and too poor for lawyers (the majority of domestic abuse victim-survivors I’d wager)? It seems it falls to professionals like former solicitor Diana Jordan to have to step in, pro bono, to help people to actually get the justice they are entitled to - and to the good natures of others to donate money). So, here’s a link to Rose’s #crowdfunding page, and details of her groundbreaking case. Please share, whilst contemplating the sorry state of #familylaw in England and Wales (ironically the first country in the world to make coercive control a crime). #narcissism #factfinding #familycourt
Divorce Consultant & author of 'How to Divorce a Narcissist and Succeed in the Family Court' and 'A Better Way of Dealing with Divorce'.
I have been working (pro-bono) with Rose for the last two years since she ran out of funds to instruct lawyers: she had to sell her house to pay legal fees and now has nothing left but increasing debts. Much of her £175,000 was well spent as an excellent legal team managed to get one judge to recuse himself, and another to re-open the fact finding hearing - so far as we know the first time this has been done in private law proceedings. Although it is only in the family court we hope that this case will help and encourage other parents to try to overturn unsafe fact finding decisions. Rose is not able to front this fundraiser herself as she is not allowed to publish anything that could lead to her child being identified. She is desperate to protect her daughter from further abuse and will be extremely grateful for any donation you can make. I would also be grateful if you would share this post for me as I don’t have much presence on social media. Thank you! https://lnkd.in/euYAsqre
