Re-designing a single-use medical device with sustainability in mind 🌍: A step that needs to be taken as the high proportion of single-use instruments is not only a hygienic must, but also a growing environmental problem. ▶ See how we were able to reduce the global warming potential of a single-use trocar by 51% compared to a conventional trocar by systematically incorporating the principles of Design for Sustainability into the re-design process. Our sustainable trocar development is a success based on the goal of making products, including those of highly regulated industries like ours, more circular-ready. As part of the KARE project, we are continuing along this path and striving to develop new products using DfS.
