Last week I had the opportunity to discuss a topic I am very passionate about, self-advocacy. Barbara Pike Gonzales put together an amazing panel to unpack the importance of using your voice and advocating for yourself. 💥 We focused on the fact that women play so many roles in life, that we often find ourselves championing and advocating for everyone else - our children, family, employees, etc. But who advocates for us when we need it? What does it look like when you start speaking up for yourself? ➡️ You get familiar with that emotional nudge (your instincts) to say something. ➡️ You find a phrase you can lean on that will help you use your voice, for example: "From my point of view, you said". ➡️ There is a clear understanding on what you hope to accomplish. ➡️ The importance of keeping it brief is clear. Here is a snippet of our conversation. 💯 #mindset #advocacy #mentalhealth #women

There is #NoExcuse for gender-based violence. Yet, 1 in 3 women globally have been subjected to physical or sexual violence at least once in their life. That’s why we are teaming up with the European Commission to roll out the ACT programme. It aims to accelerate efforts to eliminate all forms of violence against women through Advocacy, Coalition Building, and Transformative Feminist Action (ACT). Learn more: https://lnkd.in/dGGvPvzm
