The gift cards api is so weird. You can't query on exact match of a gift card code, only partial match. So if you're building a gift card lookup page there's no way to simply do an exact match. If you assume all of the gift card codes are 16 characters long which is the default then you can validate that length of the code at least which is essentially an exact match. But they can be as low as 8 characters long and it's impossible to even inspect the current gift card values in order to know whether you're dealing with 8 or 16.
