To operationalise inclusivity, we need both transactional and transformative approaches. Building a culture of inclusivity requires more than a single approach. It demands both transactional and transformative change. ⭐️ Transactional change lays the groundwork: • Updating organisational values. • Revising HR policies. • Embedding inclusivity in performance management and job competencies. While essential, these steps alone aren’t enough. They are the starting point, not the destination. ⭐️ Transformative change is where the heart of inclusion lies: • Removing the armour, allowing curiosity to take root. • Hearing each other’s stories and forging genuine connections. • Engaging in introspection to shift deeply held perspectives. This is where inclusion moves beyond processes into real, meaningful connection. Sustainable change happens when data meets stories—when transactional frameworks are paired with transformative experiences. = = = Inclusion Theatre bridges this gap. Our immersive approach moves beyond the transactional into the transformative. Through live theatre, we bring workplace dynamics to life, sparking moments of deep reflection and connection. This isn’t about checklists or metrics—it’s about creating spaces where real change begins. Our hope? That leaders see the power of embracing both approaches to truly weave inclusivity into the fabric of their organisation. What’s the biggest threat to an Inclusion Culture in the workplace? It has stopped workers from: • Sharing a different version of the truth • Taking on a stretch assignments • Clarifying misunderstandings • Disagreeing with decisions • Speaking up for others • Volunteering to help • Calling out risks The greatest threat to a thriving workplace culture? Not feeling safe. We’re not talking about physical safety (though that’s vital). This is about psychological safety—where workers feel safe to take risks and express themselves without fear of negative consequences. Yet, all too often, we instinctively avoid discomfort for the sake of harmony by: • Looking the other way • Keeping thoughts to ourselves • Sticking to what (or who) we know • Standing firmly in the middle to avoid rocking the boat The worst part? These actions are like frostbite nipping away at psychological safety, and preventing your Inclusion Culture from blooming. = = = This is where Inclusion Theatre comes in. Our experiential theatre programme embraces the discomfort needed to explore Inclusion Culture deeply—but in a safe, immersive environment. Through professional actors, you’ll experience scenes that challenge your comfort zone. Maybe you’ll shift in your seat or nervously laugh. But with our expert facilitators, you’ll unpack these moments—examining beliefs, biases, and perspectives—all in a low-stakes, high-impact way. The result? You’ll leave with fresh insights to bring back to your workplace, expanding a culture where people feel they belong. 🌍 Diversity congress I believe it’s our shared responsibility to step beyond daily routines, expand our perspectives, and connect with different people and organizations. A few weeks ago, I did so while attending re:think diversity congress. Hearing from experts on ways to address bias, tools to build psychological safety, potential versus privilege, trusted AI in HR,… was a useful reminder of the ongoing work needed to create workplaces that truly support diversity and equity. Thanks to the Diversity Think Tank team for organizing a thought-provoking event and to all speakers for sharing their insights. This journey is gradual, but it’s one where each of us can make a start within our own sphere of influence. So how do you contribute? 🔹 What’s one way you’ve fostered inclusion in your workplace? 🔹 Where would you like to see more progress or support for diversity and equity? #Diversity #Inclusion #PeopleAndCulture #rethinkingdiversity #transformation #culturaljourney #HOERBIGER
