🌟Making a difference in just 2 minutes 🌟 I just had the privilege of assisting a #BeMyEyes user over a quick 2-minute call. They needed help figuring out which bin bags to use for their green and black bins and how many litres they hold. It’s incredible how such a small action can make a big difference in someone’s day! For those unfamiliar, Be My Eyes is an app that connects blind and low-vision users with sighted volunteers. Volunteers provide real-time visual assistance for tasks like selecting the right soup flavour or navigating a menu. It’s such a rewarding experience to lend a hand—whether it’s a 2-minute call or simply being part of this wonderful community. And there’s no pressure! The app calls multiple volunteers at once, so someone is always available to help. If you’d like to make a positive impact in someone’s life, I highly recommend downloading the app. It’s a small way to give back and bring more accessibility to the world. #Inclusion #Accessibility #Volunteering #BeMyEyes #MakingADifference

👀 The eyes of our times are on community, but what does it mean to find and build that? While #community may be a #buzzword, it's also a vital part of the human experience (as my boss and mentor Ricky Silver would say, two things can be true at once). 📈 Since the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been an increase in what has been coined 'The Loneliness Epidemic' (worth the Google!). What captivates me most is that 24% of people* (sourced in the document) over the age of 15 feel loneliness on a regular basis. 🌐 According to new research, loneliness and social isolation have been linked to an increased risk of death from any cause. In Blue Zones, communities worldwide live up to and past 100 years old. One of the primary reasons for their longevity is the close bond within these communities. Another contributing factor is their diets, which is one of the main reasons I'm in the FnV business. 💡 So, how can we help each other? How can we build the thing that so many of us deeply want and need to live a richer, more connected, and more fulfilling life? Let my big bro, Kris Martinez, know! ⬇️

This story is about 2 men: One goes to an art exhibition and meets everyone nicely, keeps the door open for the person behind, compliments the staff and the artist but when he comes to the art he shares his disappointment and says it’s not up to the mark. The second goes in and doesn’t speak to anyone, he doesn’t hold the door open or even speak to the artist, he does however spend some time admiring the painting and how the emotions have been captured. Which do you think the artist warmed to more? This was a story I heard in congregation and yet it applies to so many walks of life. For an artist the art being complimented is a compliment of their ability and skill and even though the first guy met them nicely their disapproval of the art is the same as disapproval of them. Likewise a parent will appreciate it more if their children are appreciated, even if they are not. This week in the run up to the conference, I have been speaking with several people who have seen the demo and methodology behind TheGrowthApp They have shared how they see this #digitalsolution working for different usercases too. For Refugees For Homeless For Unemployed For People in care For Veterans For Youth Justice As one person put it: “This supports anyone coming out of a situation or circumstance to progress” Whilst we look to reveal the updates at the GovNet conference tomorrow and showcase this solution to those in the criminal justice system I cannot but swell with pride hearing the feedback so far. Like a proud parent, this is our baby and knowing the potential it has to change lives and make an impact and that people are sharing details about it to others on their own accord makes me smile.
