FILM ARCHIVE MUSEUM | CONCEPTUAL DESIGN BY ME In a city where history and art converge, the Film Archival Museum stands as a stunning testament to architectural innovation. This unique museum preserves old films and art pieces, capturing the milestones and memories of the past. The design embodies a dual purpose: serving as a National Museum representing its geographical roots and as a Film Archive Museum safeguarding cinematic heritage. Inspired by the wavy shapes of film reels and the elegant gestures of the Hsinbyume Pagodas, the architects fused these elements into a harmonious design. This fusion created a structure with dual DNA, reflecting both the fluidity of time and the solidity of heritage. As a happy accident, the design also represents two timelines, blending the cinematic past with the present. The Film Archival Museum is more than a building; it is a living memory, a beautiful blend of time and place that invites visitors to celebrate and experience history and art in one breathtaking form.

That book I really like (unlike the one on radical museology). Four essays on the contemporary art trends and practice - research based installation, performance exhibitions, interventions and invocation of modernist architecture. How do we look and perceive art today through the screens and permanent information noise? What has come instead of attentive and slow looking? What is the problem of contemporary spectatorship?

Reflecting on my recent visit to the breathtaking cathedral in Salamanca, Spain, I couldn't help but ponder the nature of human creativity. Standing before sculptures and paintings from 500-700 years ago, I was struck by their lifelike details and richness. It made me question: Have we truly developed our creative intelligence, or is it just the tools at our disposal that have evolved? In an age where technology and tools enhance our abilities, it's easy to overlook the raw creativity and ingenuity of our ancestors. Despite lacking modern conveniences, they achieved astonishing artistic feats. Does this suggest that creativity itself remains a constant, intrinsic human trait, unbounded by the era or tools? Or have we just shifted the ways we express it? This thought-provoking contrast between past and present challenges us to look beyond our tools and tap into the timeless wellspring of human creativity. How do you see our creative evolution? Are we truly more creative today, or just better equipped? #creativity #innovative #art #history #humanpotential #salamanca

“A constantly evolving exhibition of art genres" - this is how we could describe the vibrant life at RE Excellence projects. So, to which art genre could we assign one of the most actively developed projects - Žygimantų 12? 🎨 Truth be told, we can't do without one. The "conceptually classic" Žygimantų 12 project incorporates two intertwined art forms: classical music and conceptual art. These are unique homes that combine elements of architecture, history, technology, and nature. Like a classical music symphony, the project captivates with its elegance, harmony of tradition and modernity. Historical fragments of walls and wine cellars, like notes, create a cozy melody, while the breathtaking view of the Neris River and towers through the windows soothes the soul. Meanwhile, at the heart of the project lie conceptual ideas - sustainability, comfort, and quality, embodied in advanced technologies: A+ energy class, underground parking with the possibility of installing an electric vehicle charging station, and sustainable solutions for the exclusive interior staircases, heating, cooling, and ventilation systems. Discover your own interpretation of art by living in Žygimantų 12: https://lnkd.in/dJskb9Cb

FADA Gallery invites you to the exhibition titled, IN/VISIBLE The 2024 Creative Output exhibition “In/Visible” offers a useful register with which to engage an array of current works by staff of the Faculty of Art, Design & Architecture (FADA). It’s generally taken for granted that the production, appreciation and dissemination of art – via channels such as books, galleries, museums and the internet – is primarily predicated on notions of the visible, the visual and the tangible. There’s nothing wrong with this assumption. Indeed, without multiplicities of visuality, the world of art would stand to lose a great deal. As important as the visible may be, the invisible is a critical and easily overlooked layer for the thinking and making of art and its attendant provocations.

ART-CHITECTURE The Extensible Spatial Metaphor EYECANDIES @eyecandiescn × Kui Yuan Gallery @kuiyuangallery , Shanghai, China 16 Dec 2023 - 14 Jan 2024 Departing from the explorations of the aforementioned possibilities, the exhibition comprises three parts of intermediaries with limited materiality, including paintings, drawings, and images, serving as abstract representational symbols associated with intellectual concepts, also inviting a re-examination of the connections and distinctions in creative and experiential approaches between art exhibits and architectural exhibits in a universal cognitive sense through juxtapositions and contrasts. At the same time, widening the limitations of the existing display and storage patterns through the appropriation of transport devices, the exhibition then introduces a discourse on solidified carriers and extended transplantations, which also faithfully mirrors the analogous architectural thinking framework, endeavors not only to dematerialize the creation of spaces but also to further become a nexus between reality and non-reality, exploring and advancing the balance between authenticity and fictional imagination, ultimately revealing the extended spatial metaphor. #JXYStudio #culture #art #architecture #exhibition https://lnkd.in/gpz7EM8a

A question that came to mind today as I worked through the MoMA's "What is Contemporary Art?" course on Coursera is: Are there distinct art movements in contemporary art, or is it impossible to categorize them because we are still living through the process? Are we too immersed in the present to distance ourselves and apply the traditional approach of dividing art into movements? With the evolution of mediums, techniques, and themes, it seems harder to draw clear lines between movements in contemporary art. It seems that today, the word "trend" is used more frequently, which to me implies something that could disappear quickly, not yet solidified into a lasting movement. 💭 Is it true that we can only study contemporary art as MoMA suggests — by organizing it into thematic "folders" and placing works in them accordingly? Another approach might be the one presented in a landmark study "Art Since 1900", which offer a chronological overview of the 20th and early 21st centuries, tracing both thematic and formal developments. But can this method still apply when we’re focusing solely on 21st-century art? While reflecting on these ideas, I came across a fascinating work in the course: "Teeter-Totter Wall" (2014) by Ronald Rael and Virginia San Fratello. https://lnkd.in/gR7nQvig This piece stood out for its playful, yet powerful transformation of the U.S.-Mexico border into an art installation. The teeter-totter concept tells a compelling story of resilience and activism, highlighting how people interact with the border and drawing attention to the tragic history of femicides in Ciudad Juárez. By reducing the wall to keychains, snow globes, games, and postcards, Rael and San Fratello diminish its power, turning it into something small and almost trivial. 📖 If anyone has suggestions on readings or resources from a methodological standpoint that can help deepen my understanding of contemporary movements, I’m open to recommendations! #MoMA #Art #ArtCritics #Museums #Movements #ContemporaryArt
