As we farewell the previous owners of Walpole Thrifty-Link Hardware, Norm and Sue, and also Bindoon Mitre 10's Brad and Marg, we welcome two new Store Owners to our IHG family. Donna and Chris Carlyle have taken on Walpole, while Vishram Gopal has added another hardware store to his growing list, Bindoon Mitre 10. These changes mark an exciting chapter for both communities in WA, bringing fresh perspectives and creative ideas to the hardware stores. Donna and Chris are excited to bring their enthusiasm and expertise to Walpole. In addition, Vishram's acquisition of Bindoon Mitre 10, with his nephew, Kaplesh, running the business signals continued growth and investment in the Mitre 10 Australia brand. Together, these independent Owners are poised to enhance the shopping experience and meet local customers' needs. Please join us in welcoming the new Owners. We look forward to seeing their stores thrive and grow!

JET Back in 2020, TFGSA acquired Jet from Edcon for approximately £20m for 370 stores. They also inherited a significant volume of stock (£35m ! ). When the board at TFG said that something was possible, they were certainly right. When critics said that something was impossible, they were certainly wrong. The only way to discover the limitations of possibilities was to venture a little way past them into the impossible. With a stellar leadership team who welcomed an external challenge, they developed a robust brand 360 strategy, bringing together the silos that had formed across buying, planning, marketing, retail operations, and the supply chain. They delivered a compelling product offering that was both fashion and value focused, communicated through a strong tone of voice and in an environment that inspires and excites the customer. An advanced achievement is indistinguishable from magic. The team at Jet has done this…big call out for Jeannine De Chaud. The future is fuelled by Jet. 🚀 Vivat TFG #brandstratergy #macrotrends #productstrategy #bdalondon #trendhub

The Palomar Group had an incredible time at ICSC Carolinas, where we connected with industry peers and delved into meaningful conversations. Here are a few takeaways from our conversations: 1. Dollar General's expansion stands out against the backdrop of Dollar Tree Stores and Family Dollar's downsizing, highlighting the evolving dynamics within the dollar store sector. 2. While deal flow appears slower than anticipated at the start of the year, we remain optimistic about the opportunities ahead. 3. Leasing momentum remains robust, underscoring the resilience of the retail sector's fundamentals. Excited for continued discussions and collaborations as we navigate the ever-changing retail real estate landscape together! #ICSC #RealEstateInsights #InvestmentSales #WeGetRetailSold

It was less than a year ago when Casey's acquired Douglass Distributing and its Lone Star stores, giving Casey's a position in the coveted DFW market. As far as deals go, that transaction was relatively modest but critically important. Douglass and its Lone Star properties were run by the venerable Bill Douglass and his son; and his daughter, Diane McCarty, had crafted an excellent moderate-size retail chain https://lnkd.in/ewer2-qx. I reference that deal because it was a pacesetter for today's significant deal, in which Casey's is acquiring the nearly 200-unit CEFCO network run by the Fikes family. This, coupled with Yesway's major investment in the Dallas-Ft. Worth market and 7-Elevens purchase of Cal's, now makes this market one of the most hotly contested... will be fascinating to watch as the 3 heavyweights operate very different business models. #cefco #caseys #yesway #lonestar #7eleven

Home Depot's $18.25 billion acquisition of specialty distributor SRS, as reported by CNBC, marks a significant move towards expanding its professional sales segment. This may seem like a high-priced venture, but with the potential for service providers to retain over 90% of their revenue, it's a strategic win-win. As someone who's led a Garden Center, the continued expansion of big-box retailers is a tough pill to swallow. However, consolidation has become an inevitable trend, largely driven by the hefty price tag of technological advancements. With AI in our toolkit, we're poised to reclaim profits from these giants and redistribute wealth more equitably. It's not just a plan; it's the right thing to do. And let's be clear—nothing's going to stand in our way.

Dollar Tree goes bargain shopping: Why did the company acquire 170 stores from the bankrupt 99 Cents Only Stores after planning to close nearly 1,000 of its own stores? Dollar Tree posted a surprise loss in its final quarter of 2023 and announced the closure of nearly 1,000 stores, most of them Family Dollar locations that it acquired a decade ago for over $8 billion. So why has it just secured leases for 170 former 99 Cents Only Stores across Arizona, California, Nevada, and Texas? Along with the former 99 Cents Only Stores, Dollar Tree will acquire the company’s North American intellectual property and select on-site assets. These locations will be reopened as Dollar Tree stores as early as this fall. Family Dollar has underperformed Dollar Tree and other discount chains in recent years. The acquisition of 99 Cents Only Stores’ leases out of bankruptcy gives Dollar Tree a cheaper way to grow rather than building new stores and helps the Virginia-based chain extend its reach on the West Coast. The acquisition was finalized in May with approval from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, and B. Riley Real Estate advised Dollar Tree. After 99 Cents Only Stores filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in April, it began liquidating assets. 👉 Click link for details: https://lnkd.in/gTuAgJ-7 #NNN #retail #realestate #investment #investing #commercialrealestate #property #passiveincome #cre #investor #realestateinvesting #commercialproperty #netlease #retailrealestate #dollartree #99centsonly
