IdeaPOP!2024 Final Pitch was quite a day! To say the students have done a good job is an understatement. I am quite impressed by the business acumen of the students, the ability to reason with sound arguments, and how composed they are when challenged by the judges. I was busy running around during their final pitches but still managed to catch some of their presentations. There was one project on treating food waste. When being asked shouldn’t they target a bigger market, say the restaurants, they said that restaurants have already been served by another scheme, but the residential food waste hasn't been dealt with, and their project also helped to raise awareness among a greater population. That’s what we are looking for: deriving a viable business solution to make a social impact! Mentioned in this SEED Foundation post, the champion team came out from the revival pitch. The champion team’s win is quite an uplifting story. One setback doesn't define who you are. One or many setbacks is not the ultimate definition of success or failure. You can always come back stronger and even take the title. I hope other students will take note of this. Kudos to the leadership of SEED and the project lead of IdeaPOP!, the meticulous planning of the team, and the execution by everyone involved. Everyone tended to the smallest detail to make sure it is a flawless operation. Everyone attended would agree it was a very smooth running. Many would agree they had a good time. Next, we are now working on the workplace experience programme to allow students to experience real work life during their summer holidays (They also need to make real contribution!). It will further impart them with the knowledge and skills of the real world so that they will be more capable to come up with a solution to make a difference in the world.
