Guar seed arrivals in major markets continued to rise for the second consecutive week, fueled by bullish prices. Recent data shows a 10% increase in arrivals, reaching 24,807 quintals, up from 22,387 quintals the previous week. In Rajasthan, the primary state for Guar seed production, arrivals increased by 3%, totaling 8,736 quintals, up from 8,466 quintals. The technical visits included interacting with various stakeholders including ULB Officials, Tehsildars, Agriculture Officials, Market Committees, Crop Residue suppliers, transporters, local farmers, dairy farms, poultry farms etc. The project had two primary objectives, to understand the agriculture patterns, crop cycle, crop types, crop residue data, the supply chain etc. of Bhiwadi Cluster and to analyse the feasibility of setting up a CBG plant in the cluster. It will induce formalisation of the entire farm trade, which we know is largely cash-based; third, PDP will incentivise states to set up APMC mandis or even electronic trading platforms outside physical market yards, where farmers can sell their produce. Fenugreek Seeds Fenugreek (Trigonally foenum-graecum L.) is an annual crop belonging to the legume family. It is regarded as the oldest known medicinal plant in recorded history. India is the largest producer in the World. In India, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, West Bengal and Uttaranchal are the major fenugreek producing state. This variety was developed by Gujarat Agriculture University. During 2022-23, a total of 1,88,480ton of fenugreek seed was produced from 1,20,340 hectare area which is 11.22 % and 6.92 % of total seed spices production and area, respectively. The current productivity of fenugreek is 1566 kg/ha (DASD, Kozhikode). Its plants are dwarf and having average yield 18.6 q/ha. this variety is suitable for Gujarat region.
